To whoever it was that thought it was a good idea to de-wax their board at the top of the car park and just leave the mess all over the place. Did you know there's a bin at the beach? Did you not have any room in your car? The dune area at Fanore is an EU Special Area of Conservation. Good etiquette amongst beach goers and surfers especially, is to take a couple of pieces of trash AWAY from the beach, not bring it along and dump it! But you my ignorant, littering friend with your 'help destroy what you came to enjoy' attitude, are not a real surfer, but a kook.

CLIMATE CHANGE

This year we have witnessed more lines of native kelp being washed ashore than we usually see - this image is one of the beaches in Bantry this morning - Globally we are warned about climate change.

Kelp forests act to slow wave action as it heads for land, thus also protecting our coastlines from further erosion.

Globally, the phenomenon of the disappearance of kelp forests is being noted (see link beneath) - Can we not protect what we are blessed with here in Bantry Bay or will large scale removal by mechanical means of native kelp forests be allowed to go ahead?

Our Government should be working towards combating Climate Change through all avenues open to them - the licence to remove 1,860 acres of native kelp in Bantry Bay should be rescinded immediately.
