I've had a number of queries lately from women and girls who are concerned about their personal safety when out and about. So I've decided to put together a free six week female-only course geared around self-defence.

It'll involve elements from Muay Thai, MMA and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
There's no charge whatsoever and we've got 30 places. Starts next Tuesday.

The last year or two has been something of a rebuild for the team at Jai Sua. The lads got their heads down, worked hard behind the scenes and ploughed endless hours into their training, diets, running, strength and conditioning and into fighting on our endless interclubs... Saturday night we got to show what we'd been working on...

We had four fighters compete on the huge WMO event in Dublin on Saturday with Caleb, Des, Cody and Tiarnan taking to the ring.

The lads put an immense amount of work into their fight camp so I had a feeling we might have a night to remember.

And so it proved - all four fighters came away with wins.

The performances behind each of these wins were all down to the way they approached their training - with dedication, sacrifice and professionalism.

Nights like this don't come easy - so congratulations to the four lads, you earned it.

Also a huge thanks to the rest of the club - everyone rallied around the boys in preparation to make sure they were as ready as they could be - real team effort. Was great to see such massive support for our club among the crowd - we'd be far the biggest following of any club represented.

Hard to believe BLOC is about to turn two.

We completely transformed a dusty warehouse into a welcoming space with top equipment and a cool atmosphere.

And we're not finished yet - we're upgrading all the time and we've some huge news coming on that front...

What hasn't changed is the price - we're still the most competitively priced gym in Bray.

So this is the day job -

Coaching at the martial arts club I founded a decade ago.

Self-funded. Zero grants. Always packed.

We aim to improve the strength, fitness, resilience and above all confidence of the hundreds of our young people that turn up in any given week.

As well as teaching them how to look after themselves physically, we also provide completely free, on demand mental health services.

These lads were behind my decision to stand in the local election.

I got sick of seeing them being undervalued, treated like they're disposable and all too often being driven out of Ireland by Government policy.

Dozens who trained here had to emigrate. Amazing, capable, hardworking people that Australia was only delighted to get their hands on.

Why doesn't Ireland place that sort of value on its own?

If things don't change half of the lads in this video will be gone in five years. A lot of them are already talking about it.

This is their home. They have a right to a future here.

I really don't see how anyone in the current Government - or Sinn Fein with their copycat policies - makes that happen.

Hi all – below are the details of the arrangements for our brother Eoin. He’s going to be in his house tomorrow (Friday) and anyone who wants to go over is welcome between 4 and 7pm.

His address is 20 Stonebridge Wood. There’s no parking outside the house but the priest in St Anne’s church said anyone who wants to go can park in the church cark park (it’s less than five min walk from there).

The club will put together a guard of honour for Eoin for the Saturday when he’s being brought to the church. The family are putting the club colours on his coffin – yellow and black – so we’re requesting that if you can, wear black and everyone will be given a yellow rose each from the club.

If everyone from the club can come to St Anne’s church for 12.15 it’ll give us a chance to get people into place ahead of the service. Eoin more than earned a good turnout from us. Students past and present, juniors, parents, beginners, ex fighters… everyone very, very welcome.

After the service in the church the family will be taking Eoin for private cremation. Everyone else is invited to go to the Coach in little Bray.

As mentioned, if someone wants to go and needs a lift, just let us know and we’ll sort something out for you.

Really struggling to describe the sadness we feel at the news that Eoin is gone. It just doesn't seem possible to sum up how horrific this is. An amazing, big hearted, brave, talented, loyal, kind young man that it has been such a pleasure to have known has slipped through our fingers.

I feel sorry for anyone who never got to see Eoin fight - he was a magician in there. A phenomenal talent who loved do***ng it out with his opponents as much he did sailing across the ring landing ridiculous cartwheel kicks and flying elbows. He cleared everyone out as a junior and went 11 fights unbeaten before topping it off with an ISKA title win. He moved into the pro game as a teen and only fought a couple of months ago, getting another A class win. He was looking forward to moving up the rankings in 2024.

But how good a fighter he was is just a small part of who Eoin was as a person. He was such an unassuming lad, always smiling, always generous with his time. Great craic to be around and just a genuine nice fella with a good heart. It's so hard to understand.

It's all made so much worse by the idea that Eoin didn't feel he could reach out. Like so many others in his life I'd have done anything for him. But Eoin kept the weight he was carrying to himself and endured in silence. He had an amazing family, a girlfriend, a huge group of friends and everyone at the club so it didn't have to be like that.

The idea that Eoin will never walk into our club again is just too difficult to accept. It'll never be the same. I want to close the doors and never go back. But we can't do that, though, because there's likely another one of our young lads struggling like Eoin struggled, and the club might be all they have. So we'll keep going in Eoin's memory.

Love you mate. You'll always be remembered 🙏
