Preparation on competition day comes down to a number of factors!

But for big competitions, such as IBJJF Nogi Euros end of the month, we have to make sure our strength and conditioning is dialed in.

If you do this, you'll arrive on competition day stronger, more explosive, better conditioned and overall better prepared then the vast majority of people on the day.

You still need to deliver on your technique and strategy - but you've given yourself another feather in the cap for preparation, another reason for things to go your way.

Giovanni understands this and trains year round.

This commitment allows us to build in off seasons and peak training towards competitions like this.

As a result he'll be feeling pretty fu***ng good on competition day.

Which is another thing you can tick to yourself when you're standing by the mat ready to go, wondering if you did enough.

Giovanni won't be wondering that - he'll be able to go out and leave it all out there on the day.

And you can too.

If you've done great prep in the past you'll know this.

So for your next competition, don't be afraid to take it up a notch in your preparation.

First Austrian to medal at ADCC trials!!! 🇦🇹

Spectacular run on the day, with some technical matches and quick submissions.

Next time we'll bring a bigger, stronger, better conditioned athlete.

I hear so many crazy things on what BJJ athletes do in the gym 😂

"yeah I tend to just walk in and go as heavy as I can on 3 exercises"

"usually bench 4 times a week - yeah my shoulder is at me but it's probably jiu jitsu"

"nah don't need cardio get it all on the mats mate" (proceeds to most of the rounds out)

All legit things I've heard in the last year or so.

Why try go it yourself?

Why try figure out the complexity of organising it all, adjusting when things go wrong etc?

You've enough to do between your normal life obligations.

So it doesn't get done.

Falls by the wayside.

Another few weeks roll by.

You're the one skipping most of the rounds.

Sweating, waiting for the timer.

Yeah you love jiu jitsu that's not the point.

It's just tough to do it all.
