For a push day, the Bench Press is a foundational exercise that targets the chest, shoulders, and triceps. You can perform it on a chest press machine, with a barbell or dumbbells, typically with the machine or barbell for heavier lifts and the dumbbells for added control and stability. Aim for multiple sets and a rep range that supports your goals, such as 4-6 reps for strength or 8-12 reps for muscle growth, while ensuring you leave 1-3 reps in the tank for good form.

If you're struggling and need to speak to someone, you'll typically have to wait months for in-person therapy services.

Our club/gym runs regular fundraisers so you, as a member, can seek private care through our partner provider, mynd.ie. That means you can be in front of a therapist within 48 hours. It's completely free - the bill comes to us.

As we all know, access to therapy isn't the answer for everyone. But it can help some people. Please consider giving it a try if you find yourself in a tough place.

Rob Carry is the founder and owner of BLOC Bray. Rob is a Masters in Journalism graduate who spent 10 years working in the media in Ireland and overseas before going into business in 2014.
Rob fought at a professional level in Muay Thai before setting up his own club, Jai Sua Muay Thai, which operates from the same facility as BLOC. The club has grown to become one of Ireland’s biggest Muay Thai gyms and is the biggest martial arts club in Wicklow.

Rob is something of a community activist, passionate about providing supports for locals & fundraising for Breast Cancer Ireland, Five Loaves Bray, Medical Aid for Palestine and for youth mental health. Rob’s goal is to build a club and gym that are a real focal point for the people in Bray and beyond and an asset to the physical and mental health of the community.
