Blessington FC 3-0 Raheny Utd
(Senior Sunday)
First competitive game for the Senior side this season with new Management in position saw them finish up with a comprehensive win over a good Raheny side with 3 unanswered second half goals the difference between the 2 teams.
Blessington had several young new players themselves in the squad tasting Sunday Senior football for the first time and can be very happy with how they acquitted themselves.
Despite plenty of the ball in the first 45 it took the home team an hour to break down a dogged Raheny defence when Cian's tight angle shot squirmed between 2 defenders and looped over the keeper.
Aidan doubled the lead 10 munutes later when his long range drive wrong footed the keeper after a slight deflection.
On 81 minutes the final nail was issued when Dylan pulled it back to Conor inside the box to sidefoot it home under the keeper.
Raheny did their best to pull one back and contributed to an entertaining game and deserve credit for it.
All in all you'd have to say while it was a good performance by Blessington that there is still some room for improvement which augurs well for future games.
