Club Notes 14th June 2026
Family Fun Day report

What a day we had on Sunday, the afternoon had it all with a packed attendance enjoying many activities, including face painting, carnival games, pony rides, mini football matches featuring our U9 boys and U10 girls, pop up Gaeltacht and G4M stalls, old school sports day, Hatty Patty, Blessington Fire Service, the ever popular Dunk Tank where the kids got to dunk their coaches & adult players, and of course the highlight and the legend himself, Mick Dempsey’s pop up chip shop
The smiling faces came from near and far and all enjoyed a wonderful day, the dedication to the long queue for the famous “bit of onion & red” burgers & chips, was nothing short of phenomenal. We could all taste and feel the nostalgia! The cooking continued long into the evening with Mick’s final serving saved for the hard working volunteers who put Trojan work in to the running of the day.
A massive well done and thank you to our Fundraising Committee and ALL their helpers, who were powerfully led by Stephen Willo whose vision and planning the event was outstanding.
We had so many helpers on the day and beforehand getting everything set up, it is all very much appreciated.

The senior team were presented with the Herbie Hill Cup on Friday evening for their league division 1 win. Thanks to Chairman Damian Byrne for the very encouraging speech to the lads. They had just played Bray in the first round of the Dunne cup and were unfortunately beaten. Next up they are away to Baltinglass this Friday evening 19th June with a later throw in of 8.15pm. Hope to see as much support as possible for the team and management.

Junior A

Blesso vs Eire Og u15 Div 4

A great performance on Thursday evening by the lads , first half playing against the wind, the lads worked hard all over taking some lovely scores with some great movement across the midfield / forward line . When required we defended in packs forcing the turn over . First half a narrow lead.
Second half we took our scores early but some sloppy play allowed Eire Og back into the game scoring a couple of goals to put us on the back foot . A couple of injuries disrupted our play but the lads dug deep to finish strong .
Hoping for a quick recovery for couple of lads who picked up injuries this evening after putting in a great shift - Ronan and Danny.
Thanks to Eire Og for travelling this evening. Thanks to all parents for cheering on the lads . Thanks to the u15 lads , Conor and Alex . Thanks to u13 lads for stepping up , Kian, Josh, Kevin and Ollie.

U13 A Boys

A game of mixed fortunes against Dunlavin on Monday as we had our first U13 A championship match. We were looking for a fast start with the breeze in our back but unfortunately Dunlavin were the ones to register some early goals. The lads clawed back a double digit deficit to trail by just 2 points at half time.
The second half was evenly matched for long periods but Dunlavin were able to use the breeze to make sure that they reopened up a lead. While we never got back on level terms, the game remained finely balanced until the final 10 mins when Dunlavin put the result beyond doubt with another couple of goals.

U10 Boys

The U10 boys played an away match to Moorefield this week for NKL Go Games. We had one big match with the lads getting use to playing with more bodies on the pitch. The lads adapted their play quickly when long kicks weren’t working due to the wind and playing through the hands, keeping possession and working scores in together helped them do really well despite the windy conditions. Well done to both sides for giving their all in a later than usual weekday fixture. Thanks to Moorefield for hosting and the parents and lads for travelling

U14 Girls League

The girls travelled over to Ballincor on Friday night and got their first win of the season against Clara 4-11 to 3-9. Winning by 2 at HT the girls drove on and were winning by 6 with 5 to play but clara got 2 goals to level the scores but a super second goal from Ellie won the match for us. We kicked some brilliant team scores with our defenders starting off some great moves. It was a great effort from all and you can see the girls are starting to click. Special mention for Caoilainn for travelling up from Limerick for the match
