A story like the one below exemplifies our vision of an island of swimmers....
From Enniscrone Pier to "buoy one" here's my story that has surpassed my expectations and dreams ๐ฌ
Last September, I touched buoy one in Enniscrone - something I never thought Iโd ever be able to do.
I only started swimming in May 2025 after my daughter convinced me to join Swim Ireland lessons at the pier. On day one, I was terrified - I could barely put my face in the water. I stayed close to the edge, afraid to go out of my depth, but I kept showing up, practising, and pushing myself a little further each week.
There were moments I turned back, moments I doubted myself - but I decided Iโd try everything and have no regrets.
Slowly, I got braver. I swam further than I ever thought possibleโฆ until one day, I made it to the pencil - and finally, on our last session, all the way to buoy one.
The feeling was unbelievable. Pure pride, excitement, and joy - our own version of Everest ๐๏ธ
I never thought Iโd be a sea swimmer, but now I canโt stay away. The community, the cold water, the achievementโฆ and best of all - I can swim ๐
