Well done to our under-13s who got back to winning ways on Friday evening with a comprehensive victory over Kilconly.

The lads were solid in defence throughout the game, with a full-back line of Glen Rooney, Matthew Devaney, and Noah Gill only allowing Kilconly in for 1-1 in the first half. MJ Ryder, Ethan Monaghan, and Shane Roche covered the half-back line well and were always in support to help move the ball out the pitch.

Once again, John Boyle in goal was pinpoint accurate with his kickouts in the first half, linking up particularly well with midfielders Iarla Burke and Matthew Boyle for a number of short kickouts. Boyle followed up his impressive first-half performance in goal with an even better display out the pitch in the second half, after moving to the half-forward line and scoring 1-3.

As has been the case in most games this year, the lads up front were deadly accurate, with Killererin’s first four scores coming from four different players — Matthew Boyle, Iarla Burke, Ethan Moloney, and Harry King, with Eoghan Cooney at wing-forward constantly on the ball and linking defence with attack. In the full-forward line, Nathan Cleary and James Vignoles proved a threat throughout the game, while Finn Scarry’s brilliant tackling and work-rate meant Kilconly found it difficult to move the ball out of their defence time and again, allowing Killererin to win back possession and increase their lead.

The introductions of Mark Devaney and Mark Shaughnessy in the half-back line, along with Charlie King and Callum Duffy in the forwards after half-time, also had telling impacts, with Duffy getting a hand to a dropping high ball and palming it into the net, following on from the goals already scored by Matthew Boyle (2), Ethan Moloney (2), John Boyle and Nathan Cleary.

Well done to the lads on a good performance, who remain top of the Division 3 North championship table, with three games remaining.

🟥⬜ Supporting a Worthy Cause 🟥⬜

Former clubman John Monaghan undertakes "Saoirse's Sunshine Cycle" in aid of Little Blue Heroes.

On 20th June 2026, John will take on the incredible challenge of cycling 340km from Belfast to Enniscrone, starting at sunrise and aiming to reach his destination by sunset as part of the international Chase the Sun event.

The cycle is being undertaken in memory of Saoirse Duggan, who sadly passed away in June 2025 after a courageous battle with leukaemia. Saoirse was an Honorary Garda with Little Blue Heroes and held a special place in the hearts of all who knew her.

Little Blue Heroes supports families of children living with serious illnesses throughout Ireland and relies entirely on donations and fundraising.

We wish John the very best of luck with this remarkable challenge and encourage anyone who can to support this wonderful cause.

🇧🇭 Reddington Cup Finalists 2026 🇧🇭

After six games in three hours against teams from three different counties, overcoming injuries and poor weather, pulling off last-minute comebacks, and battling their way to victory in their final two, must-win, group games, a heroic performance by our under 12s in Headford fell just short on Saturday, as they were beaten in the Reddington Cup final by Mayo’s Shrule-Glencorrib.

Moate All-Whites from Westmeath were first up, and three well-taken goals by Nathan Cleary, James Vignoles and Iarla Burke helped Killererin battle to a narrow three point victory to set them on their way, also having to make-do without the services of John Boyle for most of the game, who picked up an ankle injury early on.

Shrule-Glencorrib were next in game 2, where Cleary added another goal to his tally for the day. This was a game which saw two of the scores of the day both come from Killererin players deep in the second half. With the lads looking to reverse a four point deficit late on, Iarla Burke’s powerfully struck free from off the ground somehow found its way to the roof off the net, bypassing the line of Shrule players guarding the goal. This was then followed up by a huge, long-range point hit by James Vignoles in the closing seconds, to rescue a draw - 2-3 apiece.

A narrow loss to Headford in Game 3 was to follow, proving a setback for the lads. It meant that with just one win in their opening three games, the final two upcoming games were both must-win to have any chance of advancing beyond the group.

Next up were Annaghdown. Killererin were slow to start here, but defended excellently early on, as they had done so far on the day. Mark Devaney, Aaron Bermingham, Noah Gill, Oisin Kelly, Alex Roche, and Max Miskell all worked hard throughout the tournament. Odhran Joyce in goal pulled off some important saves and worked well with the defenders and midfielders for kick-outs. Oisin Kelly’s diving block was one of the highlights of game 4, and with the return of John Boyle, who contributed 1-1, Killererin eventually pulled away and ran out 1-5 to 0-3 point winners.

With Moate and Headford both losing their final games, it meant that victory for Killererin in their last game against Caherlistrane would guarantee a place in the Cup Final. Up front, John Keville, Cian Sheridan, Tomas Burke, Jack Donnellan, Callum Duffy, Avery O’Loughlin, Lee Donnellan, and Casey McGrath had all done their part so far, playing important roles in various games, but this was the game that Killererin saved for their most impressive attacking performance. A point from James Vignoles and another 1-1 from John Boyle laid the early foundations before half time. The winning of the game came in the second half though, with Nathan Cleary’s third goal of the day being complimented by crucial points scored by John Keville and Oisin Kelly, helping Killererin to a 2-4 to 2-2 victory.

A strong start by Shrule-Glencorrib in the final meant that for the second time today, a big comeback would be required against them, but it wasn’t to be. The lads battled on valiantly throughout, but came up just short in the end after a dramatic day of football.

Well done to all the panel on a great effort. Thanks to all the supporters for cheering the lads on in the poor weather conditions. Thanks to Mike and Rita Reddington (Reddilift) for their sponsorship of food for the panel afterwards, to David Devaney and Treacy Bus Hire for transporting the lads to Headford, to PJ Personnel for their continued support, and to Under 13 players Matthew Boyle and Matthew Devaney for providing their assistance to the management on the sideline.

Our under-13’s five-game championship winning run was brought to an end on Friday evening after a tough battle away to Milltown.

Played in windy conditions, the lads struggled from the start to match the pace of the game and found themselves four points down in the early stages, until James Vignoles eventually got Killererin off the mark with a well-taken point. 1-1 from Ethan Moloney and another point from Matthew Boyle saw Killererin go in at the break 1-3 to 8 points down.

John Boyle was immense in goal throughout the hour, pulling off several point-blank saves. Milltown continued to pile on pressure in the second half, despite the best efforts of Glen Rooney, Matthew Devaney, Shane Roche, and Ethan Monaghan in defence. Although Mark Shaughnessy managed to save the ball off the goal-line with an incredible diving block, a Milltown goal soon after that saw Killererin find themselves six points behind, before they finally began working their way more into the game.

Iarla Burke lead from the middle of the pitch, driving through the Milltown defence time and again, and he opened Killererin’s account after half time with a good score. Odhran Joyce and Eoghan Cooney both worked hard at wing forward in the second half with tough tackling slowing up the Milltown play, allowing Killererin to slowly get on top in the third quarter. Nathan Cleary and James Vignoles both tried to make their presence felt more in the inside line, and after a well worked score finished off by Matthew Boyle, followed up by Ethan Moloney’s second goal of the game, Killererin were back to within just one.

This was to be as good as it got though, and a well organised and skilful Milltown team added on further scores towards the end of the game to pull away once again and avenge the one point loss Killererin inflicted on them in Round 1, ending the game on a final score of Killererin 2-5, Milltown 2-11.

Hard luck to the lads who remain top of the Division 3 North table despite the loss, and still have four more games to play as they look to secure a top 2 finish in order to advance to the Semi-Final stage.
