Located in the stunning scenic beauty of South Sligo by the shores of Lough Talt and its surrounds, Wild Wet Adventures will provide visitors with an introduction to Water based activities in a safe and enjoyable way. Wild Wet Adventure programmes are designed in such a way as to introduce a healthy respect and appreciation for the natural beauty and aura the area has to offer and will reward and

challenge all ages and abilities. Wild Wet Adventures also have walking guides available and offer access to many land based activities through our alliance with the other activity providers locally. Wild Wet Adventures has been started by John Barrett, after twenty five years plus in the security service based industry, he decided to combine his passion for water based activities and the great outdoors and start an activity business in the South Sligo area.

Walking Donegal and Mary from Dungloe Festival 2026 have a guided Walk – To Altan Farm
July 25 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

Bus leaving from Festival office on Main Street at 10.30am sharp

Where you will be dropped off 0.8km past Errigal Car park and walk in an old Horse track to Altan Farm which is located at the edge of Lough Altan and at the foot of Aghla Mór… lots of history associated with Altan Farm, allow 3 to 3.5 hours for the walk … suitable for all levels … track can be boggy depending on rainfall and then be picked up again.

Please bring suitable clothing, footwear and a light bite to eat.

🦇Leisler’s Bat named Bat Species of the Year 2026–2027🦇

The Leisler’s Bat has been selected as Bat Species of the Year 2026–2027 by BatLife Europe — with a big thank you to our partners across Europe who voted for this species.

Over the next two years, conservation organisations in more than 35 European countries will work together to raise awareness of this wide-ranging but vulnerable bat and to promote solutions to the threats it faces. Although widespread, the Leisler’s Bat has a patchy distribution and depends heavily on old-growth forests. It is also a remarkable long-distance migrant, travelling hundreds of kilometres between summer and winter roosts.

One of the major threats to the species is the rapid expansion of wind energy without adequate mitigation, particularly along migration routes and in forests. By highlighting the Leisler’s Bat, BatLife Europe and its partners aim to shine a light on key conservation challenges — and on the best practices needed to protect this species across borders.
