Congrats to Capt Padraig Foley on a well organised day, a great turn-out, day and night, wonderful weather, wonderful food and the course in pristine condition, huge thanks to all associated with the preparation. They say in sport that you can only beat what’s put in front of you, golf is the exception, you don’t know what’s happening in front or behind you. Starting off you knew the burger cabin awaited, with the usual tasty burger and beverage, following that it was completion of cards, dinner, before all was revealed. The scoring on the day by the winners was similar to Scottie Scheffler standards, with the ladies taking the scoring honour. The winners were very popular when announced, for Phil Rice it was her first Capt’s win at the Slieve Russell, and for Vincent Maguire it was a step higher than 2025 when he was placed 2nd, it was sincere congratulations from all present, a very enjoyable day and awards ceremony, thanks also to the competition secretaries for all their work in collating the results.
