Boxmore Spring League Week 5
Congratulations to Michael Rolston on his second win with a score of 26 and takes the 20 points. There were 5 joint runners up, Pauric O'Neill, Willie McNiffe, Tony Downes, Robert Byrne and Stuart Bull on 25 points.
Handicaps for previous weeks played a big part in determining the weekly winners but as Tony Downes didn't have any deductions he took the winners prize. Second was taken by Pauric O'Neill on count back from 3 others.
Still plenty to play for in the final 2 rounds with a spot in the play off plus weekly prizes. Tony Downes continues to lead the table closely followed by Pauric O'Neill.

Ladies News: We are just 3 weeks away from the official opening of the season, which is Drive-In Day March 7. The usual method to declare your intention to play on the day, is enter on BRS so the organisers can arrange teams. The 9-hole repeater competition continues, a low entry so far mainly due to weather conditions. Always check which 9 holes are in play before you entry, as conditions on the day are a factor. The fixture list is almost complete, but confirmation of a mixed outing to the beautiful surroundings of Murvagh Co Donegal are in place for 15th April, so contact the Lady Captain if you wish to play. Also keep the date of 18th September free as it is the Sinead Rice Memorial Cup Day and Lady Captains outing to Mullingar Golf Club and again our Lady Capt will be taking names for same with a deposit. It’s a bit early to remind you that the course will be closed from 5th July to the 12th for the Amateur European championship, if you can help in any way at this event contact the pro shop. Finally, many ladies frequently say I would love to get into golf but never follow up with action. Now is your chance to express your interest and if numbers are viable it will be arranged, contact [email protected] with your expression of interest.

Tony Downes leads the league on 43, 6 ahead of Pauric O Neill with Willie McNiffe on 36. Week 4 Boxmore Spring League results sends congratulations to James Cassidy winning on a score of 29pts, joint runners up were Pauric O Neill Stuart Bull and Conor Toney on 25pts, with Stuart Bull taking 2nd prize on a count back from Conor as Pauric had a 1 shot hcap reduction from his 2nd place on week 3. Tony Downes continues to lead overall by 3 ahead of Pauric O Neill who is 5 ahead of Willie McNiffe #

Ladies News: ‘Golf, like measles should be caught young.’ Welcome to young and not so young to the 2026 golf calendar for the ladies and gents. Just a few important dates for your diary, March 7 will be Drive-in day. June 6 is going to be the highlight of the year for the Mone family and all members, as our extremely popular member Ann Mone is our elected President for 2026/27. Congratulations Ann and good luck. Moving to later, in the month of June we have the Ladies & Gents Open day on June 24, the ladies committee only fundraiser for the year. Then, on to July it is Lady Captains Day on the 18th, with the Sinead Rice Memorial Cup combined with Lady Capt’s outing on Sept 18 at a venue to be confirmed. The following are the back room team for the year ahead, which is so important to the smooth running of all activities. President: Ann Mone, Lady Captain: Karen Bull, Vice Capt: Kathy Durkin, Sec: Paula O Hara, Treasurer: Catriona Cunningham, Comp Sec: Martina Gorby, Hcap Sec: Ann Montieth, Pro: Brid Sullivan, Committee: Maura Williams, Bronagh Lunney, Jacqueline Curry, Ann Harte.
Gents News: We welcome Padraig Foley to Captain the Club for 2026 and the best of luck to Padraig, with many believing Padraig has a hard act to follow from the 2024/2025 Captains but there is no doubt he will excel in all his duties as Capt. His back-room team are as follows: Treasurer: Tony Downes, Comp Sec: Stuart Bull, Hcap Sec: Barry Keane, there are two positions remaining to be filled.
