It is with great regret and huge disappointment that following discussions with The Lisgarvan House International team, course designers and builders we have made the extremely difficult decision to cancel Lisgarvan House International Horse Trials 2026.
This summer we have experienced record breaking high temperature and drought conditions in the south east of Ireland. The team have worked tirelessly over the last few months to prepare safe ground conditions required for this level of competition. Now with the introduction of national water restrictions and with water conservation a national priority, it would not be appropriate or responsible to proceed in these conditions based on the substantial volumes of water required to maintain horse welfare not only in the stables but across the whole event.
We have come to this very difficult decision prioritising the welfare of horses, riders and the long term impact on the course. With no significant rainfall forecast for the next 14 days the team at Lisgarvan feel it is only fair that we make this call now to allow riders, owners and support teams to adequately adjust their calendars for the remainder of the season.
This decision has not been reached without careful consideration; we equally understand the disappointment felt by everyone who was planning to attend our event. We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank our generous Sponsors, Riders, Owners, Officials & Volunteers who have so kindly supported Lisgarvan House International both this year and previous years.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back to Lisgarvan House International next year under more favourable conditions and thank you all for your understanding and continued support. ๐๐
