⚽️ A fantastic day – and weekend – at the Associations Cup for our U-14 SFAIreland teams. 🇮🇪

In the first edition of the Girls tournament, the SFAI girls completed the double with a hard-fought win over Northern Ireland. After going behind early, they showed good character under pressure, playing some of their best football in the second half to turn the game around.

On and off the pitch, they’ve been outstanding – not just in performance, but in attitude and spirit. The level of appreciation, positivity, and togetherness within the group has been clear throughout. Simply a great bunch of young players.

👏 Huge credit to all the coaches (Mike, Paul, Meabh) for their commitment, and sincere thanks to the parents, guardians, support networks, clubs, and leagues who support each player’s development every step of the way.

We’re also very grateful to Gerry, Neil, and the host organisers at NIYFA, as well as Gavin, Mitch and everyone on the competition organising committee – your work behind the scenes makes events like this possible.

Finally, a big thank you to all the associations, players, and staff who took part in such a positive spirit. These weekends remind us of the true value of coming together through football.

🥳⚽💙 And that's a wrap! Our U9 & U10 academy teams drew the curtain on their season on Wednesday evening with a laid-back, fun session of games, shoot-outs, matches and medals 🏅👏💙⚽

👍👍 A massive thank you to Simon, Jonathan and James for helping the gang throughout the campaign and we cannot wait to get going again in September 🔜

*️⃣*️⃣ We are currently looking for mentors and helpers to assist with the Under 10 side (will be graduating to U11's come September). The team are a fantastic bunch of children who are super talented too... Please DM us now if up feel you can help out in anyway 💙👏🇮🇪

🔵⚽ Last Sunday, our Under 16's concluded their prolonged 2020/21 season away to Strand United, in what was a typical end-of-season goal-fest game ⚽🥅

➡️ Well done to all the players, mentors and helpers who persevered throughout a season of stoppages and lockdowns, and in particular to manager John Donovan for his enthusiasm shown during the season 👏👍💙

➡️ Last Friday night out Under 15's travelled to Shanbally to take on Carrigaline in one of the final schoolboys league fixtures ⚽

🔵 Hassig knew a win would be enough to secure promotion for a second year running and leave them without a league defeat on the pitch since December 2018! 👏

The side were down to the bare 11 players due to holidays, and conditions meant that their proud record of 21 league games without defeat was at risk 🤒

👬 Twins Maitiu and Aaron formed the central midfield partnership, with Ethan deployed to play alongside Keenan at centre back. Jack deputised in goal in the absence of Oisín, and was only really threatened once all evening 🥅

🔵 The Blues, to be fair, should have been two up come half time but squandered both gilt-edged chances. That said, in the second half the promising football paid off when Jordan put us the visitors in front. 0️⃣-1️⃣

👍 Christian made it two-nil not long after making it 0️⃣-2️⃣.
Another fine move involving Neil, Jordan and Christian ended up with Olan poking the ball home from close range, before Christian made amends for one of his earlier misses by beating the keeper to a through pass and finding the net to make it 0️⃣-4️⃣

💙 Overall, it was a superb performance throughout the team, with Keenan and Ethan playing commanding roles in the heart of the defence. Aron C once again had a fantastic game and Jordan really showed his class in the second half 😎

It was a special way to sign off on a disrupted season. This team deserve a title and only for and the cancelled Ringmahon league game could have possibly done it this year, if not the unfinished season before 🤷‍♂️

👏 However, to go 21 games in league football without defeat is an outstanding achievement 💙👍⚽

⚽🔵 Ballinhassig's Under 15's finished off a fine season, claiming the maximum 6 points from their final two away games against Glounthane and Carrigaline this week. The victories ensured the team finished 2nd in their division, just a point behind the eventual league winners.

On Tuesday, a superb second half saw Hassig come from being 2️⃣-1️⃣ down to win the game 2️⃣-3️⃣, with the winner being an absolute cracker.

Ballinhassig took an early lead and were playing well on a narrow pitch, something which upset the side's typical wide play. However Glounthane scored two goals just before the break, with their number 7 taking control of midfield.

Tweaks to the team at half time by coaches Jimmy Cahill and John Donovan seemed to shore things up defensivly, thus allowing the Blues take control of game once again.

There were outstanding performances on the night from Aron C, who did a sterling job of shutting out the opposition's danger man. The hard work on and off the ball was a big part of the final result.
Twin brothers Maitiú and Aaron also had a superb game.

Keenan pulled the game level at 2️⃣-2️⃣ before Neil's stunning strike with 5 minutes on the clock sealing the victory for Ballinhassig 💙⚽

What more could you ask for Fabulous sunshine, Fun, Friends, Football and ICE CREAM..........Huge thanks to all the Academy Coaches who arranged a fantastic end of season session...huge fun with the small sided games and we don't know who had more fun the coaches or the players in the big coaches v players game......
Well done to all involved...enjoy the rest of the summer and we will see you all back in September for the New Season....Football..Fun..and Friends......
