Cumann Camógaíochta Beal Atha Na Slua Ballinasloe Camogie Club Beal Atha na Slua was originally founded in the early 1900’s. Ada English, a doctor in St.

Bridget’s hospital helped set up the Ballinasloe Mental Hospital Camogie Team. In these years they won a number of county championships and also had representatives on the county team. Some members of this team won an All Ireland Final in 1973 with the county. In the 1980’s due to a numbers declining the club stopped running. However in February of 1994 the club was reformed as Beal Atha na Slua. The AGM was held in Gullanes Hotel in February. Some of the old players of the mental hospital camogie team turned up and gave a set of the old jerseys along with £110 that was left in the kitty since the teams of the 80’s. This first committee was set up of Dermot Connolly, Mary Burke and Joe Keogh. Their first game was against Ahsacragh in under 14’s. The club has grown from strength to strength ever since.
