More dirty weather coming in the next few days so fishing is put on the back burner. Reckon I'll spend some time walking the wood with the bow. Christ knows I need the practice!

60 years ago I raided my mum's needle work box for a length of cotton, gathered some worms in a jam jar from the back garden and with my younger brother tagging along, made my way to a small secluded pond known locally as Church Meadow where I proceeded to tie a worm on the end of the cotton and dangled it in the water amongst the strands of w**ds. We both looked on in fascination as the little red throated stickle backs darted out from the w**d to gorge on wriggling earth worm. This was our baptism into the world of fishing and we are both still hooked to this day. Sadly Church Meadow pond now lies under the M25 so gone is the paradise where young boys spent days exploring the mysteries of nature. Still, I guess thats progress. The reason for this little tale came about as I sat here and realised that this all came about over half a century ago. DAMN, where the hell did the time go? Get out and enjoy yourselves folks, it's later than you think!!!!!
