Most people know they trained
But can’t remember
• what did I do yesterday?
• what did I do last week?
• how many reps did I do?
• why am I even doing this?

And that’s not a dig - it’s just reality.

Because progress isn’t always about adding weight to the bar.

Yes, load matters.
Yes, reps matter.
But sometimes…
• moving better matters more
• leaving a session with energy matters more
• sleeping better that night matters more
• knowing why you’re training matters more

If you “own your move”
Do it well.
Do it with intent.
Do it with awareness.

Before asking how much?
Ask what am I actually measuring?

Why we prescribe resistance training.

We’ve been coaching for 15 years.
We’ve seen it all.
• Fads
• Fasts
• HIIT crazes
• Vibration plates
• Endless cardio
• “Do this to lose weight” trends

And one thing never changes.

When people want real change
• how they look
• how their body feels
• how long results actually last

👉 resistance training sits at the centre.

You can burn calories a hundred ways.

You can sweat.

You can diet harder.

But if your body isn’t changing shape,
you’re just getting smaller… not different.

That’s body composition.
(Just a fancy way of saying changing how you look.)

Most people don’t struggle with effort.
They struggle with results that last.

Make the Gym Work for You

Ever wondered how the busiest people still make it to the gym?

Here’s the truth: it’s not about more time – it’s about clarity and choice.

Ask yourself:

Is this worth it for me?
Why do I want to do this?
Why do I need to do this?

The clearer your why, the easier it is to show up.

Fit it into your life, don’t fight your life.

• Look at your day and decide where a gym session can slot in.
• Start with getting the gym to work around your schedule.
• Eventually, it’s about making your life work around it – because showing up is for you, not anyone else.

Busy isn’t an excuse.

The busiest people I’ve trained – business owners, parents, high-level professionals – always find a way.

50 minutes out of a 24-hour day isn’t impossible, it’s a choice.



Start small, stay consistent, and let your why pull you through.

It’s really about finding your why. Why are you training?

You’re not just moving for the sake of moving.
You’re training to do something in your life. Lift your kids, play your sport, perform better, or just feel good in your own body.

Once you know your why, everything else falls into place.

I see so many people, even with a coach, thinking they “should” move onto the next exercise.

The truth is, you need exercises that are right for you and that gives you something meaningful.

What a weekend with the Functional Fitness Castlebar crew 🫶🏻

Big thanks to all the members who showed up and got stuck in to our annual Christmas Games.🎄

It was some laugh and great to see everyone competing, laughing and enjoying themselves.

Castlebar is 10 years open in January and we can’t thank the members enough who always show up and make these events special. ❤️

Looking forward to finishing the year off strong and setting ourselves up nicely for January 💪🏻
