Balbriggan Amenities for Sea Swimming (BASS) is a campaign advocating for the development of much needed swimming amenities, this includes a swim platform and tidal pool which will make sea swimming more accessible and allow all residents to enjoy the sea

Thanks to some generous donations and some sterling work by our volunteers we're very happy to say that we've installed 4 hard wearing yellow buoys on the front beach.

The full loop around the buoys is 400m.

Well folks it's that time of year again when the swimming season begins anew.

Thanks to a bit of TLC and maintenance our buoys managed to last through the winter. In particular the 2 heavy duty yellow ones which we put in place last year.

As these proved to be excellent we're hoping to put 2 more in place for the coming season.

If you'd like to help fund the cost of these you can contact the page or speak to one of us directly.

All donations will be gratefully received and w go towards the cost of the new buoys and maintening of the existing ones.

A busy day for our volunteers yesterday - an early start to prepare the anchors for the new buoys and then returning at low tide to put the new buoys in place.

Bit of help needed if anyone doing nothing tomorrow morning. Balbriggan Amenity for Sea Swimming are placing buoys on the front beach. Tomorrow morning 9am meeting to make solid concrete anchors and 4pm to place them in position when they're set and tide is out.

We took a trip to Howth this morning to purchase the new buoys.

Weather and tides permitting we hope to get them into the water soon.

Thanks again to everyone who has contributed to the fund for purchasing these. We'll need other supplies like chains to secure them etc so if you'd like to donate a few bob let us know.

As you're probably aware one of our buoys broke loose during the last spell of rough weather.

We hit the beach today with a metal detector and spades to try and locate the chain.

We eventually did locate it so we've installed a new buoy with the thermometer still intact.

It was left in the shelter but unfortunately when we came back to collect it it had disappeared.

We were out early this morning for some essential maintenance on the buoys on the front beach.

A couple of them had moved during stormy conditions so we've removed one and repositioned another.
