Outstanding Day for the Club at the Regional Strokeplay
The club was proud to host the Regional Strokeplay today in near-perfect conditions, and it proved to be a hugely successful event both on and off the course. With excellent scoring, great competition, and a fantastic turnout of 90 players, it was a memorable day for everyone involved.
Ladies
Ann Hickey continued her excellent run of form with another impressive performance. While unlucky to miss out on the overall title, Ann claimed the Nett Prize, adding yet another accolade to an already successful season.
Junior B
Rory Doyle produced a superb display to claim first place in the Junior B category. Fellow club member Craig O'Neill followed closely behind in second place, while Sean Hickey completed a clean sweep of prizes for the club by securing the Nett Prize.
Junior
The Junior competition provided some of the day's most exciting pitchandputt, with a three-way tie after 36 holes. Paul Coakley, Kenneth Hickey, and Keith McDonald all finished level on 105, setting up a dramatic playoff between three Bagenalstown players.
After a closely contested battle, it was our Club Chairman, Keith McDonald, who emerged victorious. Paul Coakley finished a commendable second, while Kenneth Hickey added to the club's success by taking home the Nett Prize.
Intermediate
The Intermediate grade was fiercely contested from start to finish. Jason Kelly led clubmates Micko Salter and Leo Whelan into the final 18 holes, with all three players paired together in a thrilling battle for the title.
Jason held his nerve and showcased his class to secure the win. Micko produced a strong finish, including a superb putt on the final hole, to claim second place, narrowly edging out Leo Whelan after an excellent day's play. The Final 18 Nett Prize was won by Jason Sinnors with a battling score of 51.
A Team Effort
A huge congratulations and thank you to Dean Grannell for organising and running an outstanding Regional Strokeplay competition. The event was a tremendous success and was enjoyed by all 90 competitors who took part.
Special thanks must also go to Ron, Ken, and Darren, whose work in preparing the course ensured it was presented in immaculate condition. The course was a credit to the club and received widespread praise throughout the day.
Looking Ahead
There is little time to rest as attention now turns to the club's League Semi-Final against St. Pat's this Thursday. The team will be aiming to secure a place in a second consecutive final and continue what has already been a fantastic season for the club.
Congratulations to all our prize winners and everyone who represented the club so proudly today.
