The final weekend of the 2026 is nearly upon us...and we round of the season with a double header for our Development League Team.

Unfortunately, due to our opposition conceding a walkover the scheduled development league down for this weekend is cancelled.

However, fear not - our friendly team are in action tomorrow night with a 20 over game against The Independent/Evening Herald. The action in McGrath Park gets underway at 4.30pm, perfect for an after work b**r whilst supporting the lads!

Last weekend our social team played out a cracker of a friendly with our friends over in Laois, winning one hell of a run chase. And of course it was anything but a friendly, both sides determined to win, neither relenting. With Laois only having 10, Ray very graciously offered to sit out and made Shane captain for the day.

Laois posted a mammoth score of 208 batting first. There were two wickets for Shane, two for Imran, one each for Mo and Tony and two run outs.

We managed to chase this down in plenty of time. Mo top scored with 68 opening the batting with great support from Shane who also made 50. Sean contributed with 33 too whilst Dinesh also contributed with handy runs. It fell to youngster Aliyan to hit the winning runs under pressure.

Our thoughts are with Tony who has a broken thumb.

Our Development Team's title hopes suffered a major blow when they lost to a very strong Phoenix side by 77 runs. Batting first, Phoenix made an imposing 228. Aliyan was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets with Noah bowling beautifully to pick up one. There were also two run outs.

With the bat, whilst we've had some great run chases this season, unfortunately this one proved to be too much. Simon top scored on 28 not out with support from Tony Grady who made 21 including 5 4's in a row. Sean made 20 whilst Noah made his highest ever score of 14. Aliyan made 11 and Andre 10.

A strong showing despite defeat.

Two home games this weekend (weather permitting) as we welcome the Leprechauns invitational team to McGrath Park on Saturday for their annual end of season game, and our Men's Team conclude their division 9 season on Sunday with a home game against Malahide.

Would be great to see as many faces at McGrath Park supporting on both days for what will be the last adult home games of the 2026 season!

Our Development Team continued their great run with a fifth consecutive win as they beat Adamstown by 8 runs. Batting first, we made 116, probably a little underpar. Tony top scored with 30. Conor in a new role at the top of the order made 18 before being run out. Noah was the only other player to make it into double figures, making 10. A really disciplined bowling performance saw us bowl Adamstown out for 108 as we conceded just seven extras, a rarity here in Bagenalstown. Hugh was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3-29. Aliyan and Nathan both picked up two with Conor and Noah picking one apiece. There was also a run out for Robbie and Ray. We're now in a position where we can win the league. Come out and support the lads against Phoenix this afternoon.

The 1's lost back to back matches as they also lost to Adamstown, losing ny 139 runs. Batting first, Adamstown made 298. Nathan was the pick of the bowlers with 4-50. There were two wickets apiece for Simon and Robbie with Lesley also picking up one to get his 149th wicket for the club. With the bat, the O'Neills top scored in a strong opening partnership, Shane making 35 and Robbie 30. Simon made 24, Nadun 19, Dinesh 15 being the only ones to make it into double figures.

Another big win and another big chase for our Development Team as we chase league glory!

Being put in to field first after Greystones won the toss, we got off to an ideal start in the field. Sharp work by Tony, Pulkit, and wicketkeeper Robbie produced two early run-outs to put the home side on the back foot.

From there, our bowling unit kept the pressure on. Ten year old Conor was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3/34 to break up key middle-order partnerships. Tony (2/16) provided excellent support, while Nathan (1/25) grabbed a wicket toward the end with excellent captaincy seeing the skipper Simon bring himself on for the last couple of overs and pick up 2-6. Greystones were ultimately all out for 176 in 34.4 overs.

Chasing 177 for victory, our response hit early stumbles as we found ourselves 31/3. Nathan steadied the ship with 23 before Conor made his highest ever score in 37 (including 6 boundaries) to keep the target within reach.

However, when wickets fell to leave us 152/7, the game hung in the balance. Up stepped Tony Grady, who delivered a match-winning, counter-attacking innings. Hitting 49 not out off just 31 balls (packed with 8 fours), Tony partnered with Simon (14* off 14) in an unbroken eighth-wicket stand to get across the line at 177/7 in the 34th over with Tony falling just short of a third 50 in a row.

Our first team's promotion hopes took a major blow as we lost by nine wickets to league leaders Finglas. Batting first, we could only muster 107, Nathan top scoring with 17 with support from Nadun and Shane as the only others to make it into double figures with Simon making 9 not out. With the ball, the captain Lesley struck early but that was the only joy we would have as Finglas chased it down in just 14 overs.
