Another win for Lesley's 1's yesterday against The Hills.

A brilliant bowling performance helped them get revenge for a defeat against them last week in Dublin. Losing the toss and being put in to bat first on a soft surface, the lads found themselves in major trouble at 30-4. Michael fell within two overs as he scuffed a shot on 4. Nadun the in form man with two high scores fell for 5 before Nathan went for 9. Dinesh came in at 5 with plenty of hope because he’s got plenty of runs so far this season. But he fell after just four balls, making just 1. AJ did well to recover things a little bit with Robbie who kept things ticking over at the other end with wickets falling around him as they put 38 together before AJ went for 14.

Lesley and Robbie looked good together before Lesley got run out on 9. Robbie departed for 25 a couple of balls later. At 82-7, we were on the brink of being bowled out very cheaply. David Brogan went for 5 before Srikar went for a duck.

A brilliant wicket partnership of 46 between club legend Sean Farrell (12no) and Mo (30) took us up to a competitive total of 138, even if slightly below par.Β It turned out to be a game winning partnership.

The skipper Lesley spearheaded the fight with the ball, picking up 3-25 at a rate of 3.13 an over. Robbie picked up 2-13. Nadun got 2-12 at a rate of just two an over. Michael got 1-13 from his 3 overs whilst his spin twin AJ got 1-22.

In an inspired change at the end, Dave Brogan was brought on and picked up a wicket with his first ball to win the game.

A fantastic win for the lads who build on their fantastic cup win last week. Brilliant to see progress on the pitch and the work in training coming off.

On a double weekend for our 1's, we beat Gorey by 42 runs in the cup. Batting first in Courtown, we set a big marker scoring 210 from their 40 overs. A Hing father and son opening partnership didn't get off to the start they would have wanted as the skipper Lesley fell for just 6 as they made 21 together. A 30 run partnership between Michael and Nadun followed before Michael fell for 37. A flurry of wickets fell as Nathan Hing (15), Mo (3) and AJ (0) all fell quickly one after another. Jasinghe and Dinesh Sagi held things together before Jasinghe fell for 54. Sagi held things together with the tail making 55 not out dragging Bagenalstown from 147-6 to 210 all out, once again proving to be an excellent off season signing. Dave Brogan made 18 whilst Sean Farrell, Srikar and Dilmon all went for ducks.Β

With the ball, Michael Hing was the pick of the bowlers, picking up 3-17, Lesley got 2-16, Nadun, Dave Brogan, Nathan Hing, Srikar and AJ all picked up one each.Β

On Saturday, they lost by 36 runs in the league to The Hills playing with only ten men.

On a beautiful day for cricket, the hills won the toss and batted first on a nice-looking wicket. Fielding with 10 men, the lads all chipped in both with the ball and in the field, with the hills finishing on 223-9. Notable mentions for Ray's 3 wickets, a direct hit run out from Lesley, a superb catch from Mohammed and a stunning one handed diving catch from Simon that he's not going to let anyone forget about for quite a while πŸ™ˆ
Lesley took two wickets whilst Robbie O'Neill, Mo and Simon all picked up one each as the Dublin side made made a challenging total of 223 with 33 extras.

After a steady start with the bat and a couple of harsh looking lbw decisions, they ultimately ran out stream despite good knocks from Nadun top scoring on 45, Dinesh scoring 24, Bernard O'Mara making 21, Nathan 18, Ray 16, Simon 12 and Robbie 10 with the biggest 6 of the day from Ray. They ended up 36 short, picking up 4 bonus points.
