St Francis FC Athlone under 13 girls travelled to Ballinahown today in which is always an evenly contested battle.

After a close start to the game St. Francis got on top and thoroughly deserved their victory with a dominant display.

There were great performances throughout the whole squad with every girl playing a part.

⚽ Match Report | U13 Girls | St Francis Orchids vs Bealnamulla

It was a lovely Saturday morning for a local derby as St Francis Orchids welcomed Bealnamulla to Iona.

The first half was a very even contest, with little to separate the two sides. Bealnamulla managed to find the breakthrough and went into the break 1–0 ahead, despite St Francis putting in a strong effort.

St Francis came out much stronger in the second half and began to put Bealnamulla under pressure. Their hard work was rewarded when Millie Ward found the back of the net, calmly finishing low into the corner past the keeper to bring St Francis level. ⚽👏
From there, both sides continued to battle hard, with plenty of commitment and determination on show with the Game ending 1 -1.

👏 Well done to both St Francis and Bealnamulla on a great game played in a sporting spirit. It was a fantastic advert for Girls football, with both teams giving everything right until the final whistle. 👍😇👚👕⚽️

MSL U14s Girls

St Francis FC Athlone 2 - Birr 2

A tough battle as always against a very strong Birr side this morning in Iona park .

Birr started the better and it was 2-1 at halftime, St Francis didn’t get into the game , sat too deep & stood off our opponents.

However the 2nd half belonged to our girls , they played excellent and started to pass the ball , we scored two excellent goals from Aisling Fallon & Holly McCaul .

The girls created plenty of chances to win the game . However a last minute equalizer was well deserved for their 2nd half performance & never giving up . 💪

Best of luck to Birr for the rest of the season , thanks to JP & team for an always sporting game . 🤝

Well done girls , today was an excellent team performance & every girl played their part . 👍👏⚽️👚👕

St. Francis 0-2 Ballinahown.

An early start for our under 12 girls against a strong Ballinahown side. St. Francis were comfortable early on, not allowing Ballinahown settle on the ball, However Ballinahown scored a fortuitous girl and late in the first half scored a break away second. The second half was up and down and with a bit of luck St. Francis could have had 3 or 4. Great performance from the girls who are really starting to come in to their own. Best of luck to Ballinahown for the rest of the season and thanks for a great battle. ⚽⚽

Due to demand & the success of our existing 7 girls teams , we are now launching a new girls team of superstar saints for u7/8s( girls born in 2018 & 2019 ). 😇⚽️

👚 1st training takes place on next
🗓️ Thursday 3rd September
⏰ @ 6pm
📍 Iona park .

⚽️ The initial trainings will be coordinated by our experienced , safeguarded , garda vetted & qualified coaches . Cathriona Lennon , Paschal Dillon , Alan Mccaul & Joe Dunne .
