** 2026 Captain's Drive In **

What a magical day, great people, great course, great weather! Thanks to all who made their way to Barrow to support our Captain's for 2026.

A simply wonderful day for our club Captain’s Drive in today, including our 2 Junior Captain’s Sophie Moynihan and Dylan O’ Mahoney.

Our 2 juniors hit monster drives to kick start their year in front of a huge crowd of well wishers.

Our thanks to club Captains Declan and Niamh for today and best wishes for 2026. Best wishes too to Presidents Ber and Niall.

** Repairing a Pitch Mark on the green **

Well done, you've managed to hit the green from your shot and your ball has left a pitch mark where it made contact with the green.

It's very important for our greens that we repair our pitch marks using a pitch mark repairer or a tee.

The USGA have provided a helpful guide below for us to follow on how best to repair a pitch mark and keep our greens in world class condition.

Remember, it's your golf course, let's all look after it together!

Junior winter golf at Tralee Golf Links

It was heartening to see so many junior boys and girls out playing in Barrow last Saturday.

Well done to all of you for making the effort and don't forget to say thank you to whatever adults brought you out, walked with you and brought you home after.

** Rules - Penalty Areas **

This is a great short video from the USGA showing your options when playing from penalty areas (yellow and red staked areas).

We have red penalty areas on the par 3 so knowing your options is a must.

** Farewell to those departing the Junior ranks **

The Junior club would like to wish the very best to all players who are now student members since the turn of the year.

You are a member of a fantastic golf club, keep playing and make the most of your membership.

Many of you have given great joy and happiness with your performances during your years as a junior member. For that we are very proud.

Our former juniors have played Kerry Junior Boys and Girls Leagues for the club and played for various Men's and Women's interclub teams, no mean feat given the playing strength in depth we have as a club.

2 of those moving on deserve special mention, former Junior Girls' Captains Ella Moynihan and Lucy Grattan.

Each are 4 time U18 Munster Interprovincial players and U18 Ireland Internationals, 4 time members of West Munster Pennant winning teams, 2 time All Ireland Silver Medallists. Lucy won 4 U18 Golf Ireland Provincial Championships and was on the U18 Girls High Performance panel in 25. Ella won the Golf Ireland Gold Medal in 22. Both have won the U18 Munster Girls Order of Merit with Ella finishing 2nd in the National Girls Order of Merit in 25. To finish, both were 2 time Kerry Girls Junior League Champions.

Both girls have earned US College Scholarships in 2026. For our club, they have shown what Tralee girls can achieve with hard work, a willingness to learn, endless dedication, being prepared for hard knocks and a willingness to learn and bounce back.

Thanks for the memories and best of luck as you continue to grow in this game. There will be many many more good and great days ahead.
