On Wednesday evening Rock Celtic and Square United took to the field to battle for a place in the League Cup Final. The open stages of the match was fairly even with both teams having opportunities. But after 20 mins Square starting take control of the game putting the rock defence under pressure. With Arthur Sands, Alfie Winstone and Arouna Sanogo all coming close to opening the score line. 0-0 half time.
Into the second half and Square continued where they left off creating chance after chance eventually getting the breakthrough they deserved with Arthur Sands opening the score line.
Again Square continued to press with chances again for Arthur Sands, Niall McNeice, Sean Culligan and Oisin Moran all coming close.
To be fair to Rock they didn’t sit back and started to create chances of their own but they were unable to break down a solid Square defensive made up of Mc Gee, Curtis, Kennedy, Mulhern and Scanlon.
Into the final 15 minutes of the game and Square got their second goal. A quick counter attack started from the goalkeeper McGee distributing a quick ball out the McKenna on the right wing, Mckenna played a clinical ball to split Rocks defence to play Sands through to pick up his second goal of the game.
In last few minutes Rock got a consolation goal with an excellent shot on goal, hitting a sweet strike into the top corner.
