Ardattin Athletic FC 5-1 Crettyard Utd FC

Ardattin finished off the league campaign on a strong note, dispatching Crettyard 5-1.
Ardattin started off strong, Liam Whelan unlucky in the opening few minutes after a great Cillian Fagan run. Peter Abbey headed wide shortly after from a Michael Brown free kick. Some great battling from Lorcan Canavan on the wing helped Liam Whelan to net Ardattins first goal. Whelan would get on the scoresheet moments later, after stepping up to take a penalty after being fouled in the Crettyard box. 2-0 to Ardattin. Having dominated the first half hour, Ardattin almost let Crettyard back in to the game. First off they had a header just over the bar from a corner ball, then just before halftime, Evan Kearns was judged to commit a foul in the Ardattin box to give away a penalty. The spot kick was sent over the bar to keep the score at 2-0. Cillian Fagan had a powerful free kick rattle off the Crettyard crossbar just on the stroke of halftime, so no change going into the break.
Crettyard changed things up in the second half and came out a different team to try and claw back Ardattins 2 goal lead. Ardattin were lucky to hold on to their lead after a Crettyard goal was ruled offside. Crettyard were piling the pressure on midway through the second half until a great cross from Cillian Fagan allowed Lorcan Canavan to go on a dangerous solo run and met Ardattin third goal. Crettyard to their credit kept the pressure on, their number 9 shooting just wide in the 65th minute, then eventually making it 3-1 after a bit of a scramble in the Ardattin box. Ardattin responded immediately with a Stephen Curry goal down the other end to make it 4-1, Owen Murphy with a great pass to set up the move. Murphy expertly defended in the dying moments to deny Crettyard a second goal, before Cillian Fagan wrapped up the game to make it 5-1 to Ardattin.
Another great all round performance, with Lorcan Canavan and Peter Abbey standing out.

TULLYS TRAVEL DIV 1 : St Pat's Boys 1-5 Ardattin Athletic FC

Ardattin bounced back from last week's defeat in style in Graiguecullen on Saturday. The visitors started off on the front foot, Liam Whelan hit the net in the first 5 minutes but was ruled to be narrowly offside. Peter Abbey was unlucky not to score in the 12th minute, after getting on the end of a Shane Smith cross. A frantic paced attack from Ardattin shortly after saw Liam Whelans rocket of a shot rattle of the inside of the crossbar, down on the goal line and finished off by Peter Abbey to make it 0-1. Good pressure from Pat's saw Julian Strain slot home to make it 1-1 on the half hour mark. Cillian Fagan would put Ardattin back in front again with a superb solo effort, rounding 3 defenders and then the Pats keeper to make it 1-2.

As the second half progressed, Ardattin needed a 3rd goal to create some separation between the sides, and that came from Peter Abbey when he headed home to make the score 1-3. Pats struggled to deal with the dangerous runs from Lorcan Canavan and Shane Smith at this point and always looked like conceding more. Some great hold up play by Blain Cosgrove allowed Griffin Kennedy to net Ardattins fourth in the 70th minute with Cillian Fagan getting his second to finish off the scoring at 1-5 to Ardattin shortly after.
An all round great performance by Ardattin with Cillian Fagan, Shane Smith and Lorcan Canavan the standouts.

TULLYS TRAVEL DIV 1 :

Ardattin Athletic FC 1-1 Mill Celtic FC

Mill took the lead early on against Ardattin this morning, a goalmouth scramble eventually ended up with Celtics number 9 having a free header on goal to make it 0-1. Ardattin would dominate the play after this, Liam Whelan and Graham Byrne linking up for Ardattins first chance which went just over the bar. Blain Cosgrove had a fine strike saved by Mills keeper in the 20th minute. Ardattin would eventually level the game on the half hour mark, great battling by Blain Cosgrove initially, ended up with Owen Murphy heading home to make it 1-1.

Cillian Fagan had an early effort go just wide at the start of the second half. Mill would have a goal disallowed for offside about 5 minutes later. Some great defending by Ardattin kept out a period of sustained pressure by Mill, Sean Foley and Jason Noctor in particular standing out. Blain Cosgrove had another shot saved on 65 minutes. The game started to get a bit niggly as both teams struggled to convert chances. Griffin Kennedy came close near the end for Ardattin, but eventually the game finished up at 1-1 and a frustrating point earned for both sides.

Best for Ardattin: Jason Noctor

TULLYS TRAVEL DIV 1 :
Ardattin Athletic FC 4-1 Round Tower Rovers

Ardattin made it back to back wins today to boost momentum going into the second half of the season. A good back and forth game for the first 20 minutes, saw Ardattin eventually click and slowly start to dominate the play. Cillian Fagan with the first opportunity of the match, his shot just over the bar, and Will Doran also coming close on a couple of occasions. Rovers almost went ahead, against the run of play, their number 10 with a free header, but couldn't convert. Graham Byrne broke the deadlock on the half hour mark, after Ardattin were awarded a free outside the box after some great battling from Jason Noctor and Will Doran. Ardattins captain stepping up once again to slot home the resulting free kick to make it 1-0. Will Doran was unlucky not to score a few minutes later after connecting with a superb Cillian Fagan cross. Rovers were awarded a free kick in a similar position to Ardattins previous one moments earlier, which was slotted away by their number 10 to draw the game level again. Ardattin regrouped though before half time, with Will Doran scoring Ardattins second to make it 2-1 going into the break.

Rovers pressed hard in the early stages of the second half, but the Ardattin back line held firm. Sean Foley in particular driving the play on from the back. Rovers keeper pulled off a spectacular save in the 55th minute, keeping out Will Dorans header which was bound for the bottom corner. Cillian Fagan won a penalty on the hour mark, Graham Byrne converting to make it 3-1. As Rovers tired off, Ardattin took control of the game from there, Sean Foleys outstanding contribution was rewarded in the 76th minute when he slotted the ball in from a corner kick to make it 4-1 to the home side. With the game beyond Rovers reach at that stage Ardattin tightened up to see out the remainder of the game and earn a valuable 3 points.
Best for Ardattin: Sean Foley, Graham Byrne

TULLYS TRAVEL DIV 1
Ardattin Athletic FC 6-0 St Joseph's

Ardattin were comprehensive winners today against a depleted Joseph's side. St Joseph's had the first shot of the day against the run of play, but Ardattin quickly refocused and piled the pressure on, with Lorcan Canavans dangerous runs down the wing and Owen Murphys crosses into Will Doran causing all sorts of problems in Joseph's box. Will Doran opened the scoring in the 20th minute, once again getting his head on an Owen Murphy cross to make it 1-0. Cillian Fagan had a shot on target just after that, but St Joseph's keeper made a great save. Lorcan Canavan made it 2-0 going into half time after rounding Joseph's defence for a superb solo effort.

Ardattin attacked the game immediately after halftime, Cillian Fagan again unlucky not to score. Will Doran made it 3-0 on the hour mark and again 6 minutes later to make it 4-0. Lorcan Canavan got his second shortly after to make it 5-0. Will Doran deservedly nabbed his hat trick in the 77th minute to finish the scoring up at 6-0. A good bounce back from last week's defeat to Bagenalstown and credit to St Joseph's for a spirited performance.

Best for Ardattin : Will Doran, Lorcan Canavan, Shane Smith.
