St Mary’s GFC Weekly Notes
Senior Football
All roads lead to Pearse Park this weekend for the 2026 Senior Championship Quarter Finals. St Mary’s will play the reigning champions, Killoe Young Emmets on Saturday 12th at 4pm.
A reminder that tickets can be pre-purchased online for €15 (plus handling fee), €17 by card on the gate or €20 cash on the gate. Under 16’s are free of charge.
The Longford Senior Championship games will be live streamed on www.clubber.ie
And don’t forget to download the Longford GAA App, where you can see team lists and see live score updates throughout.
Minor Club
Congratulations to our Minors who had another win on Monday last in the Championship versus St Colmcille/Ballymore. The team next play Clonguish Og on Monday 07th September in Allen Park. With both teams on equal points, this last round will determine who finishes top of the table with a clean sweep. Best of luck to the team and management!
Hard luck to our Under 16’s who lost out to a strong St Vincent’s in the Championship Cup Semi Final on Saturday evening. A great Championship run for the team, who finished second on the table.
The postponed Under 16 Division 1 Shield Final will take place on Thursday 17th September in Higginstown versus St Dominic’s at 6pm.
Hard luck to the Under 14’s who came up short against a strong Shannon Gaels in the Championship semi-final on Tuesday last. A great campaign from the team this year and some superb football played. We look forward to seeing them back on the field!
The Under 13 Champions Challenge is underway and we await the Granard fixture for same.
Under 8 and Under 10 blitzes are taking place – details are shared with parents/guardians.

Mixed underage training takes place on Sunday mornings in Higginstown at 10am – 11am for Under 6, Under 8 and Under 10 players. New members always welcome.
St Mary’s Ladies
The Senior girls will play the B Championship Semi-Final on Friday 11th September versus Sean Connolly’s in Ballinalee at 6.30pm. Best of luck girls.
Pride of place last week went to the Under 14 girls who recorded a great win over Mullinalaghta in the C Championship Final on Tuesday last. A great game of football from start to finish with the St Mary’s girls in control throughout. 2 years in a row to lift this cup. Well done girls.
The Under 16 girls will play in the Championship B Cup Semi Final on 08th September versus St Brigid’s Gaels in Higginstown at 6pm. Best of luck to the team and management.
The Under 13 League continued on Thursday last when we welcomed Ballymahon Forgney to Higginstown for Round 2. Another great win for our young players. Round 3 will be played on Thursday 10th September versus St Brigids Gaels in Higginstown at 6pm.

Training for all girls from Under 4 to Under 12 takes place from 6-7pm on Wednesday evenings.
Well done to St Mary’s Senior players Lisa Flood, AnnMarie Reilly, Joanne Scanlon and Michelle Robinson who took part in the Dromard Minor Club Hyrox over the weekend representing St Mary’s LGFA.
Best of luck to St Mary’s Senior player Shauna Murphy who will represent St Mary’s LGFA in the Killoe GAA Quid Games Fundraiser in November.
