🏊‍♂️ Inclusive Swim Lessons for Children - Summer Programme 2026 🏊‍♀️

We’re delighted to launch our Inclusive Swim Lessons for Children with additional needs, in conjunction with Swim Ireland and Longford Sports & Leisure Centre 🌟

This welcoming and supportive programme is designed for participants with additional needs, including physical, intellectual, sensory, neurodivergent, mental health, communication, and social or environmental needs. 💙

🌊 Benefits of Swimming
Swimming helps build confidence, improve water safety skills, strengthen muscles, support coordination, and provides a fun way to stay active while enjoying the water. 😊

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Important Note: Parents/Guardians aged 18+ are required to be in the water with their child throughout the session.

🏅 LSP Swim Coach Mark will be present to guide participants, offering valuable support, swimming tips, and helping everyone become comfortable in the water.

🎾🌟 What a Fantastic Finish! 🌟🎾

This week, St Christopher’s Special School thoroughly enjoyed their final Tennis Taster Session at Longford Tennis Club. 😊🏆

Under the watchful eye of the amazing tennis coaches 🎾👏, the group developed new skills, built confidence, and most importantly, had lots of fun in a welcoming and supportive environment. 💙🙌

A huge well done to all the participants for their enthusiasm, effort, and positive attitude throughout the programme. 🌟🏅

We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to the incredible support workers and teachers 👏💙 whose encouragement and dedication helped make each session such a success.

Thank you to everyone at Longford Tennis Club for creating such an inclusive and enjoyable experience. We hope to see you all back on the courts again soon! 🎾😊✨

🚣‍♂️ Dads & Lads Kayaking Programme – Mens Health Week 🚣‍♂️

A fantastic evening was enjoyed yesterday at Abbeyshrule Kayaking Club as part of Mens Health Week, with our Dads & Lads Kayaking Programme bringing fathers, sons, and families together on the water.

It was great to see everyone getting involved, learning new skills, building confidence, and most importantly, having fun in a supportive and welcoming environment.

A sincere thank you to Bob for facilitating the session and sharing his expertise, patience, and enthusiasm with all participants. Your guidance helped make the evening such a success.

We also want to thank everyone who attended and embraced the opportunity to connect, be active, and enjoy the outdoors together.

🏐 A Year of Success for Handball in Edgeworthstown! 🏐

Last year, through Sport Ireland Dormant Accounts Funding, Longford Sports Partnership proudly delivered the installation of two new Handball Walls at St. Mary’s Community Campus & Sports Hub, Edgeworthstown.

One year on, the impact of this investment has been immense for the local community, handball clubs, county teams, and players across Longford. A recent report from Jenny Mahon, a passionate advocate for handball in Longford and an LSP Handball Tutor, highlights just how valuable these facilities have become.

Since opening, the courts have:
✅ Provided additional training space for clubs such as Abbeylara and Clonguish preparing for provincial and national competitions.

✅ Hosted a Longford Juvenile County Blitz, welcoming players from Westmeath, Kildare, Meath, Dublin and Leitrim.

✅ Successfully staged the Community Games National Handball Finals, receiving excellent feedback from participants and visitors nationwide.

✅ Become a regular training venue for the current Ladies World Doubles Champion as she prepares for the World Championships this September.
The courts have been praised for their quality, accessibility and inclusivity, catering for players of all ages and abilities from beginners to elite athletes.

This project was led by Longford Sports Partnership, with special thanks to LSP SIDO Tess and St Mary's Community Campus & Sports Hub Edgeworthstown, GAA Handball, and the Longford Handball County Board for their support and collaboration.

Looking ahead, there is growing ambition to bring the Irish Wallball Nationals, the biggest event on the handball calendar, to Longford in the coming years a testament to the outstanding facilities now available at St. Mary’s Community Campus & Sports Hub.

👏 Well done to everyone involved in making this project such a success and helping handball continue to grow across Longford!

This inclusive kayaking programme is designed for adults, teens & children with additional needs, including: physical, intellectual, sensory, neurodivergent, mental health, communication & social/environment.

This programme allows participants to explore the fun and freedom of kayaking in a safe and supportive environment.

💙 Our programme is the perfect opportunity to:
✅ Learn the basics of kayaking
✅ Build confidence on the water

✅ Meet new people and make great memories

For safety reasons participants should be comfortable in the water.
