Are you walking into 2025 with clear goals and a realistic action plan to help you get there?

This time every year you use the new year as a fresh start.

To forget about 2024 and all the crap it threw at you.

You tell yourself ‘this is the year’!

And your motivation is sky high!!

You go cold turkey on all the bad habits you’ve built over the past few years.

You start working out 5 times a week after not having worked out in months.

And you crash and burn come February or March.

I see it every year and all too often.

The only way you know is 100 miles per hour.

The stricter the better, right?

You do the same thing every year or even multiple times per year and end up with the same result.

Back to square one.

The problem??

Your environment is the exact same.

Your intentions are great but you’re destined to fail every time you try.

Gradual implementation of tweaks on current habits sets you up for far greater success than cutting out everything you think is bad.

People have become so sedentary that a simple walk can be enough to improve their current fitness level.

Social media has been both a blessing and a curse for people.

We have never had so much access to fitness information in our lives, yet there has never been so many people who have let their health and fitness diminish as much.

The problem with fitness content online is, for the most part, it’s extreme. So many influencers showing levels of fitness or bodyfat that is so far from normal for the general population that it makes it mentally difficult to even begin.

There is so much information about how many times you SHOULD be working out or how many calories you SHOULD be eating but it’s too black and white.

Absolutely no one talks about a realistic way to get started, or tracking your current lifestyle and habits and making minor improvements that allow you to get over that first hurdle.

Starting is always the hardest but when the perception is you have to workout 5 times a week and prep 25 meals every Sunday for the week ahead, it’s no wonder people give up before they even start.

Start by taking a look at your current habits, your current routine and make minor adjustments that don’t disrupt your lifestyle so much that it feels like it’s a chore.

ANY positive, minor adjustment in the beginning is all that’s needed to get going and make a difference.

Once you start feeling fitter and stronger, decisions around making more adjustments become a lot easier and less difficult to implement.

Everyone’s lives are different.
Just do you.
That’s all that matters.

Working out in the mornings, for some, is the only time they’re guaranteed to be able to workout during the day.

Work and life commitments take up all their evening time so before life takes over, a morning routine of exercise is important.

Here are 5 potential ways that may help you build the routine you’re looking for.

These habit building tips are here to compliment current habits so they’re easy to implement but like all new habit building routines, they will require conscious effort.

If you can find one that works well for your circumstance and environment, aim to get as many consecutive days as possible going so the new habit forms quickly and becomes part of your identity.

The one main factor in these being any way successful is getting to bed on time to give you the best possible chance implementing.

Habits dictate everything about you.

How you look. How you feel. How you think.

They’re a product of upbringing.
The environment you’re surrounded by.
Your day to day decision making.

They all feed into creating your current situation.

But they don’t have to dictate how you spend the rest of your life.

Some of you will play the “that’s just the way it is” card and tell yourself you were dealt a bad hand but your decision making dictates your outcome.

And just like the decisions that got you here, creating new ones can paint a totally different picture.

Habits are comfortable because they require very little effort but creating them is where the work has to happen.

Creating new habits to be the best possible version of your self, living life on your terms and looking as good as you want to look does require conscious work and effort.

But those positive, repeated efforts over time create a new subconscious behaviour that allows you to live the life you’ve always wanted.

They help make decisions your current self could never envisage.

All it requires is repeated, positive, conscious decisions that push the new narrative.

A newer, healthier, leaner, stronger, more in control version of yourself is just around the corner.

Are tired of feeling like you have no control over your decision making?

You reach for foods and snacks without even thinking and instantly regret it?

You feel guilty knowing that those decisions don’t help your current state or situation to allow you make any dent on progress?

You feel your habits need a good shake up to really feel like you’re getting somewhere?

Learning how to control decision making.

Recognising in certain situations the want versus need to snack and how to overcome it.

Having a complete understanding of what your body needs to make the progress you want to make and being in total control of that.

Know that if/when you mess up, how to act in a way that the very next decision gets you back on track and doesn’t spiral out of control.

Know how to maintain once you get to goal weight/feel.
Know how to react when/if life gets in the way.
Know how to be in total control.
Know how to live a leaner life long term rather than a short period once per year.

Everyone should learn to have this skill set.

BUT…..

If you can’t do it yourself, due to lack of guidance, accountability, support, will power, knowledge specific to this area, then you without a doubt need a coach.

We spend our entire lives being guided and held accountable by those more knowledgeable than us (teachers, parents, sports coaches) but as soon as we become adults we think we can tackle an area outside of our expertise all alone.

Unfortunately nothing changes throughout life.

When we want to learn or improve in an area we struggle or know nothing about, we seek advice and guidance from those most equipped to do so.

Why is the fitness and fat loss world any different?

It’s not as simple as eating less and moving more.
If it were that simple, we wouldn’t have an obesity epidemic.
We’d simply all be lean with good muscle tone because if it’s just information you lack, then a quick google search cures everything, right?

Wrong!

Each individual life is complex with its own unique set of circumstances that a simple google search cannot fix.
