Mola Mola just beneath the surface at Crystal Bay 🐟

While guiding a group of PADI Open Water Divers at Crystal Bay, Nusa Penida, our PADI Divemaster Awam captured this incredible moment as a single Mola Mola gracefully cruised just beneath the surface.

Also known as the Ocean Sunfish, the Mola Mola is the world's heaviest bony fish, reaching over 2,000 kg, and one of the most iconic species in Bali scuba diving. Every encounter is different, making each sighting truly unforgettable.

Face to face with the Ocean's Giant. 💙

📍 Manta Point, Nusa Penida | 27 m depth | 22°C

There are dives you never forget, and this was one of them. While exploring Manta Point, Nusa Penida, we were treated to an incredible encounter with a Mola Mola (Ocean Sunfish) calmly cleaning at 27 meters. It stayed right in front of us for several unforgettable moments, giving everyone the chance to simply enjoy this rare natural behavior.

Cleaning stations are special places where reef fish remove parasites and dead skin from larger marine animals, helping keep them healthy. Witnessing this is one of the highlights of scuba diving in Bali.

Massive Ocean Sunfish (Mola Mola)! One dive. Two bucket-list encounters.

Today's first dive at Manta Point, Nusa Penida, rewarded our guests with something truly special. Nikola, one of our instructors and co-owner of Zero Gravity Diving, captured this incredible encounter with a huge Ocean Sunfish (Mola Mola) at just 28 metres while diving together with two Advanced Open Water Divers.

Even more special, one of the divers was our dear returning guest, Nuha Bukhari from Saudi Arabia, who also encountered a Mola Mola with us during her previous trip to Bali. ❤️

Over the years, Nikola has developed an exceptional understanding of Mola Mola behaviour and the dive sites around Nusa Penida. His ability to read the conditions and choose the right places at the right time has earned him a reputation among many returning divers who specifically ask to dive with him during the Mola Mola season.

Most divers know Manta Point for its resident reef manta rays. What many don't know is that, during the Mola Mola season, this site also includes a cleaning station where Ocean Sunfish are often seen. Thanks to our team's local knowledge and years of experience, we always give our guests the best possible chance to encounter both Manta Rays and Mola Mola on the same dive.

💙 Another unforgettable Mola Mola encounter at Crystal Bay!

Today's second dive brought an incredible surprise for four Open Water Divers led by our Divemaster Awam. At just 18 metres, an Ocean Sunfish (Mola Mola) appeared and gave the entire group a moment they will never forget.

Meet Georgina.
Whitetip Reef Shark (Triaenodon obesus)

More than ten years ago, while diving at Shark Point in Padang Bai, I met this Whitetip Reef Shark for the very first time. She was pregnant, so I jokingly named her Georgina, after a famous character from a Serbian comedy who always seemed to be pregnant.

The funny part is that every time I returned to Shark Point over the years, Georgina looked pregnant again. It became our little inside joke. Every visit felt like catching up with an old friend who always seemed to be expecting.

Today, more than a decade later, I still visit her territory whenever I dive at Shark Point. Some dives are unforgettable because of rare encounters. Others stay with you because they feel familiar. Seeing Georgina again reminds me that the ocean is more than just a home for incredible marine life. It's a place where stories continue year after year.

If you ever join us for Shark Diving in Padang Bai, don't be surprised if I introduce you to one of the most recognizable residents of Shark Point.

💙 More than 50 Manta Rays. One unforgettable dive.

There are moments underwater that stay with you forever and this was one of them.

More than 50 majestic manta rays gathered at Manta Point, Nusa Penida, gracefully circling above and around us as they visited the cleaning station.

No rush. No noise. Just the quiet rhythm of the ocean and one of nature's most breathtaking spectacles.

Every manta has its own unique pattern, making each one as individual as a fingerprint. Watching so many together is something even experienced divers never forget.

One frame. Two legends. One unforgettable dive.

Some dives stay with you forever.

On June 26th at 10:00 AM, during our dive at Manta Point Wall, Nusa Penida, at 30 metres depth in 23°C water, we experienced one of those rare moments that remind us why we love the ocean so much.

An incredible Ocean Sunfish (Mola Mola) was calmly visiting a cleaning station while Bannerfish removed parasites from its skin. And then, as if the moment wasn't already extraordinary enough, a graceful Manta Ray slowly appeared in the background and glided through the blue.

This is the magic of scuba diving in Bali.

Cooler ocean temperatures often bring Mola Mola closer to Bali's famous cleaning stations, creating opportunities for encounters that many divers dream about for years.
