Happy New Year 2025, everyone!

We have something that might grow even faster this year: the gravel scene.
Supported by the topography of Samarinda and routes that encourage the growth of this category, we hope this year the gravel community will become something common among cyclists who may feel bored with the same old routes.

Let’s explore further together with us!

Should we organize a gravel event?

After a long journey full of challenges—with winding routes, ups and downs, and the heat and cold of Java Island—we finally arrived at the Island of the Gods, Bali.

We departed at noon, taking full advantage of our rest after an almost 24-hour journey from Mojokerto to Ketapang Port, Banyuwangi. This afternoon, our journey began with a relaxed ride towards Jembrana, the location of our first control point. Passing through West Bali National Park, we were greeted by wild monkeys along the way, until we finally reached Yeh Leh Beach, one of our mandatory photo spots.

The journey continued to Tabanan, accompanied by fresh breezes, terraced rice fields, and a stunning sunset. With renewed energy, we pushed on towards Denpasar. The slightly descending gradient of the road helped us pedal faster towards Kuta, Denpasar.

Finally, we arrived in Denpasar at night, greeted by the bustling city traffic that marked the end of our final ride.

The Archipelago Tour is now complete. We’ve endured numerous challenges: climbs and descents, dry and wet conditions, dust and mud. Yet, we embraced it all with laughter, support, and mutual congratulations among the cyclists who completed the journey.

As a community, group, and family, we express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported our journey from Yogyakarta to Bali. And even more special, for the Samarinda cycling community, this ride is something we had NEVER BEEN BEFORE.

After cycling nearly 300 km from Yogyakarta to Mojokerto, we finally began the second day of our journey.
Day two was the most challenging, with a route marked by the scorching heat typical of East Java’s northern coast and two steep climbs awaiting us.

We started a bit late, at 6:00 AM, to maximize recovery from the first day. We began in Mojokerto, greeted by the majestic Mount Penanggungan on our right, as we headed toward Pasuruan and Probolinggo before turning south into East Java.
This Friday was a particularly long day. We made time to perform Friday prayers before tackling the climbs at the edge of Probolinggo Regency.

Upon reaching the control point in the Lumajang area, we were met with a torrential storm that forced us to stop briefly and put on our rain gear.
Finally, we arrived in Jember, greeted by the cold night air after the rain. We refueled with a bowl of soto to regain our energy, as we were about to face the infamous Alas Gumitir climb, known for its “Java Traverse” route.

We climbed Alas Gumitir slowly, occasionally joking to lighten the mood while enjoying the cold and mystical atmosphere of the ascent.

After Alas Gumitir, we were hit by another storm in the middle of the night, adding more “adventure” to our already exhausting journey. Some cyclists were overwhelmed by drowsiness as we passed through town after town.

Finally, we arrived in Banyuwangi, signaling that Bali was close. Braving the early morning chill, we reached Ketapang Port, ready to cross the Bali Strait. Slowly, the sun began to rise. We felt a mix of exhaustion, drowsiness, and the unique sensations of nearly 24 hours of cycling. Waiting patiently for the ferry to take us across, we imagined the comfort of the beds awaiting us at a hotel in Gilimanuk, Bali.

Congratulations to all the cyclists who completed this incredibly long second day! You have surpassed your limits!
Bali, we’ve made it! It’s time to rest and enjoy the third day as a recovery ride. We can’t wait to soak in the beauty of beaches and rice fields along the way!

Welcome to Yogyakarta, Cyclists of the Archipelago Tour

That morning, we set off from the 0 Kilometer Monument in Yogyakarta, greeted by the chirping of birds flying around the monument and the lively buzz of Yogyakarta’s residents embracing the new day.

The morning was truly peaceful. With the majestic Mount Merapi shrouded in mist as our backdrop, we made our way toward Klaten.

By the time we reached Surakarta (Solo), the sun had already risen. Passing through the lush Caruban forest, we found ourselves back under the blazing heat. Thankfully, having grown accustomed to the heat of Kalimantan, our spirits remained undeterred as we continued riding from city to city.

We arrived in the bamboo city of Ngawi, crossing several railway tracks. Many train passengers waved at us as we passed by.

The sun began to set as we reached the border of Jombang. We were pleasantly surprised by the smooth, glistening asphalt of Jombang’s roads, reflecting the lights of street lamps and passing vehicles.

Night fell as we neared our first day’s finish line in Mojokerto. Once we arrived, we explored the culinary delights near the hotel, ending the day with a delicious bowl of soto.

Congratulations to all the cyclists who completed the 296 km route on the first day!
We are ready to embrace the second day tomorrow…
