The Russian goalkeeper delivered again and incredible performance on the biggest stage and entered the extremely short list of goalkeepers to win consecutive European Cups/Champions Leagues as a starter.

But the final also left one of the strangest goalkeeper stats in Champions League history:

On the other side stood David Raya, the backbone of Arsenal’s historic unbeaten UCL run — 9 clean sheets, a penalty save in the final, and still no defeat in regular time. Yet despite saving the ONLY penalty in the entire shootout, Raya still ended up defeated🧤❌

From loan spells all across England, Scotland and Wales to becoming a Leicester City icon. What a career Kasper Schmeichel has had 🧤🤩

Nothing was handed to him early on. He had to work his way up through different clubs before finally finding his place at Leicester, where he helped the club earn promotion, played over 400 matches and became a key part of one of the most unbelievable stories English football has ever seen, winning tha unforgettable Premier League and other national trophies 🏆✨

And to then end his career winning trophies with Celtic feels like the perfect way to close the chapter 👏🍀

What a legacy, Kasper.
