We love to find the giant ocean sunfish on our dives! Nusa Penida is one of the top five places in the world to travel and reliably see mola! 🌏

Mola are here year-around but most commonly seen between July and November at a number of dive sites around the island. We are already counting the months until they return! 📆

Most people refer to these ocean giants as mola mola. However, "mola mola" is a specific species of this fish (there are three species). Here in Nusa Penida the most common is the Mola Alexandrini. This is the mola we usually encounter during "mola season." They are so exciting to see on a dive as this species can grow even heavier than mola mola (up to 2700kg!). 🎉

Never try... never know! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Everyone is nervous the first time they breathe underwater. 😨 It's strange... humans aren't designed to breathe underwater. 🤔

And yet.... it's an AMAZING experience! 🎉

The good news is that you can try first in a shallow swimming pool. It's a lot less scary! 💦

And if you like it.... dive into the ocean and make some amazing memories! 💙🐠🦈🐡💙

Of course the Dive Instructors at Bali Aqua love scuba diving! 🥳💙🎊

But we want all of the Bali Aqua team to discover the magic of diving and the ocean. 💦

Novita, one of our office team, became Open Water Certified this year! 🏆

Edwin, our bar staff, recently did a Discover Scuba Dive and fell in love with the ocean! 🐠

And this week, Grace, also in our office, did a Discover Dive and giggled through the whole thing! 😜

Nusa Penida is famous for the manta rays at Manta Point. But we sometimes see mantas at other sites around Nusa Penida. 👀

This one gave us a private show in the shallow waters of Gamet Bay. 💙

Did you know:

* Molas are the largest bony fish in the ocean. The largest recorded was 2500kg!

* They lay the most eggs of any vertebrate -- as many as 300,000,000!
