Office work requires us to sit in a forced, cramped position for continual hours of immobility. As a result of poor posture, repetitive movement patterns and long periods seated, muscles become contracted. When muscles become chronically tight and tense, the opposing muscles become weak and place enormous strain on the joints and structure of the body. 😱

Regular stretching in a balanced manner decreases this unnatural pull on the joints, allowing the body to move more freely and effectively in all directions. ✨

And you can do wonderful stretched through Pilates. 💚

Though Pilates is most commonly considered to be an exercise focusing on strengthening the core, it also incorporates stretching techniques through various movement patterns. We move through dynamic movement patterns incorporating both passive and active stretching and strengthening of the muscles.

A habit of leaning onto one side while working , or always turning to one side to work on the computer could lead to an imbalance posture. The habit over a few years will create muscle memory in the body , which will lead to a shift of overall posture. The discomfort that our client has been feeling on one side of her body is diminished after 2 sessions, and we are still working together to build a stronger healthier body. ✨✨💪🏼

There is a certain stigma surrounding Pilates due to its vast popularity amongst women owing to its numerous health benefits and its versatility (suitable to all age groups and ability levels). ✨⭐️

However, Pilates was actually developed by a man named Joseph Pilates to help rehabilitate injured soldiers imprisoned during World War 1. 🏃🤸🏻‍♂️

Pilates devised eight core principles: Relaxation, Concentration, Coordination, Alignment, Breathing, Flowing movement, Empowering the centre, Stamina; which, still to this day, form the foundations of the practice.💪🏼

Why is Pilates good for guys?

It’s good for everyone! The benefits of Pilates for guys are the same as for women. Greater flexibility, control, and muscle precision are yours for the taking. 🧘🏽‍♂️💪🏼

Pilates is particularly good for guys because it trains a lot of different muscle groups. Research suggests that your endurance, flexibility, balance, and posture can all benefit greatly. 🤸🏻‍♂️

By comparison, many forms of exercise typically associated with masculinity, such as weightlifting, target only one part of the body at a time.
