Deddy Wigraha is The First Indonesian Black Belt under Romero “Jacare” Cavalcanti, The Founder of Alliance Jiu Jitsu, 8 X World Championship Team, He was awarded his Black Belt on August, 24th, 2013. Deddy has had a deep interest in Martial Arts since he was young and actively took various martial arts courses and joined competitions since he was 7 years old. These include Merpati Putih Pentjak Silat and Tae Kwon Do. He started training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 1996 at Rickson Gracie and Charles Gracie Academy. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was brought to Indonesia in 1998 after Deddy Wigraha came back from his studies in the United States. Deddy is a Founder of Synergy Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and He also trains Judo under Alfonso Garcia Ortiz (Spanish Olympic Judo Athlete) for 4 years. He has been actively promoting Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to local martial arts enthusiasts and established private training sessions. These training sessions were soon covered by a number of media including TV sports programs and lifestyle magazines, describing Deddy as a pioneer in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as an exciting new trend in sports. Soon, interest mounted and Deddy received offers to teach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts at a number of dojos and health clubs in the city. In 2002, Deddy was recruited by one of the leading national TV stations, TPI, to be involved as a Grappling Coach and Mixed Martial Arts Instructor for Indonesia’s Mixed Martial Arts Organization (O.M.I).
