The pectoralis major is divided into three main portions:�Upper chest (clavicular head)�Middle chest (sternal head)�Lower chest (costal head)
Each part responds differently depending on the angle of your pressing movement.

Most people think more lat pulldowns = Thicker back.
Not exactly.

Lat pulldowns are a vertical pulling movement, mainly targeting the latissimus dorsi and helping with width.
But if your goal is a thicker back, you need more horizontal pulling (rowing) movements.

Rowing variations (dumbbell rows, barbell rows, machine rows) create:
• Greater mid-back activation (rhomboids & middle trapezius)
• More scapular retraction strength
• Increased posterior chain engagement
• Better overall back density from a biomechanical standpoint

So don’t skip rows. Balance vertical and horizontal pulling for complete development.
