Some surf weekends become more than just waves.

Medewi gave us beautiful rides, good energy, and one very special birthday to celebrate on the beach.

For us, this is what Mellow Surf is really about: not just teaching people how to surf, but creating moments where people feel supported, seen, and part of something real.

The best part is never only the waves we catch.

It’s when we become friends, when a lesson becomes a memory, and when the ocean brings the right people together.

Happy birthday , and thank you and for sharing this weekend with us 🌊🥂

Be confident and try to catch your own wave.

We know there’re many things to remember, but that’s why we’re by yourside, to keep reminding you…wave after wave 🤙🏼🏄🏻

Paddling out alone is a big step. Here’s what to check first.

Especially in a spot like Kedungu, where the ocean can change a lot depending on the tide.

On some days, high tide can make the shore break stronger and harder to pass.
That means timing is everything.

Don’t rush in between two random waves.

Stabd on the beach first and watch:

→ where the bigger sets are breaking
→ how long the pause is between sets
→ where other surfers are entering and coming back in
→ if the water is pushing you sideways
→ if the tide is still coming up or starting to drop

Example:
if the tide is going up quickly, the shore break can move closer to the beach and become more powerful.
So your entry point may need to change.

If the tide is dropping, the water can expose more shallow areas, rocks or reef, and your exit might be different from where you entered.

Thid is why surfers don’t only check “wave size.”

They check the full forecast:
swell, tide, wind, period and how the spot works on that day.

And if you’re not sure?
Don’t paddle out alone just to prove something.

Wait. Watch. Ask a local surfer or go with a coach.

Surfing alone doesn’t mean being fearless.
It means making safer decisions before you even touch the water.

Follow us for surf tips that help you feel safer, calmer and more confident in the ocean 🌊

You see the wave.
You paddle.
You’re almost there.

And then… your brain disconnects❌

But here’s the real shift:
surfing doesn’t get easier because fear disappears.

It changes when you learn to commit while fear is still there✅

That first committed paddle?
It hits different.

So be honest: when the wave comes…
is your commitment ready or still buffering?

Follow us for real surf progress, honest moments in the water, and the small tips that help you actually catch more waves in Bali🤙🏼

Learning to surf in Bali doesn’t have to mean being left behind in a big group lesson🫣

In our semi-private surf lessons in Bali, we coach a maximum of 2 surfers at a time, so each person gets the feedback they need, at their own level, to improve faster and catch better waves.

Same lesson, different needs and both surfers get their moment 🌊

Sometimes, progress starts before you even touch the water🏄🏻

A small explanation on land can make a huge difference once you’re on the wave because your body doesn’t need more pressure… it needs clarity.

When you understand what to do first, you stop guessing. You feel safer. You move with more confidence.
And suddenly, what felt confusing in the ocean starts to make sense.

That’s why we don’t rush the process.

In every lesson we help you feel guided, supported, and ready, so when it’s time to paddle, pop up, or find your balance, you’re not just trying…

You’re actually learning🤙🏼

Save this if you’re learning to surf and want to improve with more confidence 🌊

Planning to take surf lessons in Bali? Save this 🌊

These two sisters came to Mellow Surf Bali with different surf levels:
•one was already intermediate
•the other had only taken a few lessons

So we coached them differently, focusing on what each of them needed: confidence, timing, paddling, take-off, balance, wave selection, and feeling safe in the ocean.

After only 4 surf lessons, their progress made our whole team so proud… and by the end, they almost shared the same wave 🥹🏄‍♀️

This is why personalized surf coaching matters.

Whether you’re a beginner learning to stand up for the first time or an intermediate surfer wanting to improve your technique, we’ll help you progress at your own pace.

If you’re in Bali or planning your Bali surf trip, follow for surf tips, real student progress, and beginner-friendly surf lesson moments 🌊

Your next wave in Bali might be closer than you think.

This will still remain our favourite wave for intermediate surfers! Why?

👉🏼 most of the times you’re the only surfer in the water
👉🏼 you can practice no-stop because all waves are yours
👉🏼 you can learn how to angle your take off
👉🏼 you can improve speed and turning

Our students love it and we are so proud to see real progress🏄🏻

If you want real progress, we’re here for you🤙🏼

What do you struggle with most in surfing?

Paddling, pop up, or balance? 🌊
Because let’s be honest…
so many surfers think they’re the only ones struggling.

The truth?
A lot of beginners struggle to catch the wave.
A lot of intermediate surfers still struggle with the pop up.
And balance? That can feel random even after many sessions.

Surfing is hard in ways people don’t always talk about.

Not because you’re bad.
Not because you’re too slow.
Not because surfing “isn’t for you.”

But because surfing asks you to do many things at once:
read the wave, paddle at the right time, pop up fast, stay centered, stay calm.

And when one part feels off, everything feels off.
So tell me in the comments:
what’s the hardest part for you right now: paddling, pop up, or balance?

You’re definitely not the only one.

Follow if you want surf content that makes learning feel less frustrating and a lot more possible 🤍

Want to pop up faster in surfing?

The biggest mistake is doing your surf pop up in two slow steps.

Keep your hands close to your ribs, look forward, and bring your feet underneath you in one quick movement.

A faster pop up in surfing helps you catch more waves, stand up with more control, and improve your surf technique whether you’re a beginner or working on better wave count.

Save this for your next surf session.
