🇬🇧 There are at least 52 different known species of sea snakes but the most common species seen by divers is the banded sea krait (Laticauda colubrina). They usually grow up to 100-150cm.

Although they are called sea snakes, they actually spend much time on land, where they return to digest food, rest or mate.

They can be observed quite closely underwater, as they don't seem to care much about divers and they are not aggressive, except if they feel very threatened.

However, they are very poisonous, so keep it in mind and don't get too close or bother them in any way. The only recorded incidents have been with fishermen who got bitten when removing them from nets.

Y llegan a medir unos 100-150cm.

🇬🇧 Did you know there are more than 200 species of mooray eel known worldwide?

It's called snowflake mooray eel (Echidna nebulosa), as its skin is covered in sort of white patches.

They rely on those two small nostrils (yellow ones in the pic) to smell and detect prey as their eyesight is quite bad...

So although they are not aggressive, don't poke your fingers close! 😅

🇬🇧 It's easy to understand why this nudibranch is commonly known as pikachu nudibranch, right?

Its real name is Thecacera pacifica and they grow up to around 2cm.

Although in some places are kind of common, they are not so easy to spot, so it's always very cool when you see one... and everyone loves them! 😊

🇬🇧 This is one of the smallest critters I've ever seen, a microscopic "hairy shrimp".

It reaches sizes of only up to 6 millimiters! 🤯

It really looks like a tiny piece of algae, moreover they live on them to camouflage.

Only when you look at it on the camera screen after taking the picture you can really appreciate it's body parts, and on this one even the eggs.😍

🇬🇧 With those crazy colors this is one of the most weird cephalopods that there is, and of course a very atractive one
for photographers.

Its name is already a cool one, "flamboyant cuttlefish", as it displays a changing pattern of purple, yellow and white while it walks around, instead of swimming, to scare away predators. 😮

I still remember the first time I saw one in Komodo and I didn't even know what it was!

“It’s like finding a kangaroo in Norway,” says a researcher of the new species of lentil-size fish, found 5,000 miles from its nearest cousins.

Exploring the overhangs
📍Raja Ampat, Indonesia 🇲🇨
Beautiful overhang covered with soft corals in Mike's Point, an amazing dive site known for its crazy currents and impressive underwater formations.
The story says this small island was often bombed in WWII, as it was mistakenly identified as a camouflaged Japanese ship. As a result, it's surrounded by huge overhangs, crevices and boulders creating so many good photo opportunities 📸

Spinecheek Anemonefish
📍Raja Ampat, Indonesia 🇲🇨
Close up of a Spinecheek anemonefish (Premnas biaculeatus), this one is a male, as the female is usually a bit bigger and darker.
Sadly clownfish make up over 40% of the global marine ornamental trade. Did you know that they can live up to 10 years in the wild? In captivity only around 3-5 years... 😕 Please say no to aquariums and fish tanks!

Yellow Striped Cardinalfish
📍Raja Ampat, Indonesia 🇲🇨
This kind of cardinalfish (Ostorhinchus cyanosoma) is common around the reefs of Indonesia and often not paid much attention, but when you look at them up close you start to admire their vibrant colours and the silver lines that travel across their eyes.
They are one of the few species of saltwater fish that are mouth brooders. The male collects the fertilized eggs and carries them in his mouth until they hatch. As he cannot eat in the meantime, if he gets too weak this can result in cannibalism, with him eating some of the eggs... 🙄
