Black Sand Dive Retreat is a 7-cottage service-oriented boutique dive resort located on a fine-grained volcanic black sand beach overlooking Lembeh Strait.

A fantastic shot of one of the most difficult critter to take pictures of. Great work from Danny Van Belle.

Lembeh's pygmy pipedragon is one the most difficult subjects to get a picture of. They are about 1 cm long and as thick as a hair ! At Black Sand Divers Lembeh they were found at two different locations so I could take my time to go for it. Extremely diificult. Manual focus. 100 mm lens and + 10 diopter.+ fiberoptics point light.

A different face-on shot from the same dive: a nice little white painted frogfish. One would think something white would stand out, but he's on a white sponge, blending in quite well.

We had another survey dive in the Hairball area. Some good stuff away from the regular route including this small pair: a tiny decorator crab on a sponge also used as shelter by a juvenile cuttlefish. Rather cool.

The hairy shrimp is very small and finding one is already a nice challenge. Taking pictures of it is another challenge ! This one was posing nicely at divesite TK2. An extra ordinary find by our diveguide at Black Sand Divers Lembeh.

Safety stop subjects. At Makawidey I happened across 4 species of anemone / anemonefish all within an arm's reach of each other. Here's one of them - a pair of pink anemonefish on a purple magnificent anemone. Lovely.
