When we’re babies, we express all our emotions without any filter.
Fear, sadness, happiness, joy—everything flows freely.
We eat, sleep, and move based on our instincts; we only do what feels right in the moment.
So, what happens to us that makes us disconnect from our feelings, that keeps us from hearing our own needs?
It’s never just one thing. It’s a combination of the culture we grow up in, the society around us, the caregivers we’re raised by, and the friends we spend time with…
For me, it took 2-3 years to rebuild my connection with my emotions and needs. It wasn’t easy to unlearn everything I’d been taught—how I should act, what I should eat, how I should look…
But when you let go of the “shoulds” and the “have to’s,” you find freedom. Life becomes peaceful and joyful, and you feel safe just being who you are.
This shift is HUGE. I can’t express enough HOW IMPORTANT it is to express yourself as you truly are, to live your life your way, without filters.
Breathwork helped me find this freedom, like a bird set free. I couldn’t be more grateful for my own breath, for the power within me given by God—the power to heal myself.
