Guess the weight difference from the first photo vs the last one 👀

I’ve just passed my 5th year old lifting so here’s a couple things I picked up along the way 👇

1) you’re not always going to feel like going. Sometimes you’ll have s**t days, weeks or even months where it just doesn’t feel like it hits the same anymore. That pinnacle moment where you put your head down and grind through it is what separates the good from the great

2) you can train as hard and as ‘optimally’ as you like but if your nutrition is 💩 then you won’t progress anywhere nearly as quickly as you could be

3) although the physical gains you can obtain are staggering, they pale in comparison to the mental gains and mindset you’ll pick up along the way if you stay disciplined

You might look at 5 years and think ‘that’s a long time’ and you’d be right to a degree but what else are you gonna do it that time?

5 years is going to come around regardless of what you do so you can either take control of your life or let it pass you by 🤷🏽‍♀️

Ever wondered what 12 weeks of blasting tren would do to a man?

Let’s talk about building some absolute cannon ball delts!

Your number one thought when it comes to this topic is probably “just spam lateral raises bro”

That begs the question, if I want to grow any other muscles, then shouldn’t I just spam that as well?

We know that low volume, high intensity training is the best approach to maximise hypertrophy (muscle building) so does that just not apply to your shoulders?

Even if it did, lateral raises only really target the lateral fibres of the delt so are we just gonna neglect the anterior and poster delt?

If I haven’t just convinced you that just spamming lateral raises isn’t the best approach to building big fk off shoulders just remember that I’m bigger than you and therefore that makes me right… suck eggs dog

But seriously, to build some 3D shoulders, I would recommend a heavy overhead pressing movement for the anterior delt (you likely don’t need much volume here as you should get enough from your pressing movements on chest day)

Of course, hit some lateral raises but don’t just spam 50 of them and call it a day. Keep it within a 5-12 rep range as the higher you go above that, the more fatigue you’ll incur and therefore harder to push it to an effective proximity to failure (as well as increased form breakdown and likelihood of injury)

And if course, MAKE SURE YOU DONT NEGLECT YOUR POSTER DELT

It is one of the most under developed muscles on most peoples physique and has a profound effect on the shape of your shoulder and back

If your neck doesn’t look like a throbbing 🍆, are you even training properly?

One thing I did want to touch base on was body dysmorphia and more specifically, body dysmorphia heading into a gaining phase

I know there is a lot of pressure on certain individuals to stay lean year round

I personally feel this 24/7 as the crazier I look, the more engagement, clients and partnerships I stand to make

There’s a couple of issues with this…

1) it’s incredibly difficult to stay lean year round without accumulating high levels of mental and physical strain

2) you feel like s**t all the time

3) one of the biggest reasons why you shouldn’t do this is… you won’t build any more muscle

The issue I faced and I believe many people face is the fact that they think ‘if I’m not cutting, I can eat whatever I want as long as it’s cal dense and has protein’

Although this still puts your body in a highly anabolic environment, you’ll also end up looking like utter s**t

This is where I’ve shifted my focus for the large majority of this year and body comp has massively improved as well as the fact that I’m not always in sad boi morty house every time I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror

If this is something you struggle with then I’d highly recommend taking a more astute approach to your next gaining phase
