Mola mola spotted today in Tulamben 🤿

We were so lucky to see this ocean sunfish on the Tulamben Drop Off. Sightings in Amed and Tulamben aren’t very common, as they usually prefer deeper, colder water.

They’re more often seen around Nusa Penida, so spotting one here is always a surprise. This one came up shallower for a moment… just long enough to say hi.

Bittersweet moment… 🥲

Bigmouth mackerel schooling in Jemeluk Bay 🤿

Also known as longjawed mackerel (Rastrelliger kanagurta), these fish are frequently seen along the Jemeluk drop off in Amed, often moving in large, tightly packed schools along the reef edge.

They are widespread across the Indo-Pacific and are known for their fast, coordinated movements. One of their most distinctive features is their ability to open their jaws very wide, which they use when feeding on plankton.

Sightings like this are common when diving in Amed, especially along the drop off.
