11th IDBF Club Crew World Championships Szeged, Hungary Szeged is a county capital and university town in Southern Hungary, only 170 km from Budapest. The city has a relaxed charm.

It originally flourished due to the salt trade but was destroyed by the great flood of 1879 and subsequently rebuilt in style. The huge square in the city centre, with its even larger cathedral, is the focal point of Szeged and plays host to the city’s lively summer festival. Sports and especially water sports have an important role in Szeged’s life. The city is rich in fresh water and thermal water. Szeged is known as the cradle of paddling sports with its international standard course, the National Kayak-Canoe and Rowing Olympic Centre at Maty-er. Szeged, the City of Sunshine is looking forward to welcoming you in 2013.
