Bike tours of the Káli basin will begin in the end of June, 2015!

With many Hungarians and foreigners alike discovering the secret appeal of the north shore of Lake Balaton, there is now a chance to explore its off-the-beaten-path charms, with the assistance of friendly and knowledgeable guides. In the heart of this region lies the Káli Basin, a depression ringed by extinct volcanoes and bucolic vineyards. Home to many of the Uplands' most famous wineries, it is an ideal place for traveling by bicycle, gliding through the town and country to experience its culture, geography, history, gastronomy, and its wine.

Bike tours depart several times weekly from the Hullám Hostel in nearby Révfülöp, on the lake shore; it is an ideal staging point for day trips in the region, at a perfect intersection of the Káli Basin, Balaton Uplands National Park, and the lake itself. Tour guests receive bicycle rental, full guide services, wine tasting at a local wine cellar, and a complimentary wine and cheese “picnic” in the heart of the basin. After a full day of taking in the sights and tastes of Káli, we return to the comfort of the hostel, where clean beds, full bar, and traditional Hungarian meals are always on offer.

This tour takes the back roads to bring the authentic Hungarian countryside to our guests, so be prepared for several hours of exploration.
