Step by Step - Outdoor activities, sport and nature Every Saturday we will organize an outdoor activity in or in the surroundings around Orfű.

The basic activity will be hiking, but occasionally we will organize cycling/mountain bike trips or supping on the lake.

Hi everybody,

Again, life showed me different plans than what I was thinking.... But that's okay because I move along with whatever is necessary to do or not to do....

So I thought to organize the activities until the end of August and after that take a rest, but it turns out I will go into relaxation mode a little bit sooner. And a little bit sooner means now 😅😅! There are several reasons why but I won't bore you with that.

The last 2,5 months were a good trying experience. How it is to organize every Saturday activity and how it's received. To reflect on what's good and what to do differently. Along the way, I created already ideas on how and what to do differently. So in the background, I will work on development (when the time is right).

Please keep checking the posts because if I see a change I would like to organize one last hike to close the summer season🌞⛱ .

A natural way to prevent mosquitos from biting you🦟

A few weeks ago, during a hike, I talked about a plant who can help in a natural way against mosquitos. That time I just forgot the name of the plant, but I found it again!😀
Because the forest is full with mosquitos at the moment, we can finally test this theory. At least if we can find the plant in the forest☺.

The name of the plant is: Geranium robertianum, commonly known as herb-Robert, or Roberts geranium. In Dutch: Robertskruid.

Because of the smelling essential oil inside this little plant, it should prevent the musquito from targeting you 😉.

How to Recognise:
- Grows in almost all of Europe
- Grows under hedges and on the edge of forests, wasteland
- Likes a semi-shady spot, prefers moist, humus-rich soil
- Strongly hairy plant, both on leaves and stems
- Often there is red coloring in the stems or petioles, especially if the plant is on poorer soil
- Up to 50 cm high
- Flowers: purple to pink with shades of white
- Flowers contain 5 petals and 5 sepals
- Flowering is from May to October
- Stems: hairy and often a red color occurs
- Leaves: are 3 to 5 leaves ​​(triangle-like), with deep grooves
- Root: The root is small and very shallow in the soil.

It was SUP-er fun yesterday at Supping in Orfű! 😀💦

We started at the "small water lagoon" because there is less wind. A good spot to practice and feel the board. We went close to the reed because there you can see often turtles 🐢 and, for me THE sound of Orfű, the reed warbler (Dutch: karekiet, Magyarul: nádi poszáta). I will post a video from this cute little bird and his specific sound.

Because of the big wind it was not the most easy circumstances but everybody (first timers, more experienced, toddlers👶, and a cute little dog🐶) they all did great and enjoyed themselves!

This morning we made a wonderful hike! Once I found the forest way🤭 we walked mostly through the forest with the birds singing and the sun slightly shining through the trees. And "as icing on the cake" the beautiful view from the Orfű tower with homemade cheese 👌😍

Yesterday was such a great and fun walk both for parents and for the kids!!😃 We were with 4 little guys around the same age, they are so cute 🥰😍.

First, we had "the babakocsi parade" 🤭 and once we arrived at the forest the kids could run, play together and watch the beauty of nature. We even went with our feet in the cold stream at the "water gomba". Perfect morning with good company!

We will definitely repeat this kind of walks! Don't be shy and join us next time 😉.

A tegnapi nap nagyon jó és vidám séta volt mind a szülőknek, mind a gyerekeknek!!😃 4 nagyjából egyidős kis sráccal voltunk, annyira cukik 🥰😍.

Először a babakocsi felvonulást tartottuk 🤭, majd az erdőbe érve futhattak, együtt játszhattak a gyerekek és nézhették a természet szépségét. Még a "vízgombánál" is bementünk lábbal a hideg patakban. Tökéletes reggel jó társasággal!

Biztosan megismételjük az ilyen jellegű sétákat! Ne légy szégyenlős, és legközelebb csatlakozz hozzánk 😉.
