Have you ever thought about this?
One hundred years from now, let's say in 2123, we will all be buried alongside our relatives and friends. Strangers will live in our homes, for which we fought so hard to build, and everything we possess today will belong to them. All our wealth will become unknown and unborn, including the car we spent a fortune on, which will likely be nothing but scrap metal in the hands of an unknown collector.
Our descendants will barely know who we were, and they won't remember us. How many of us know the father of our great-grandfather? After our death, they will remember us for a few more years, then we'll just be a portrait on someone's bookshelf, and a few years later our history, our photos, our deeds will vanish into the oblivion of history. We won't even be memories anymore.
If we were to pause one day and truly reflect on these thoughts, perhaps we would understand how ignorant and naive it was to dream of achieving everything.
If we were to dwell on this, our approach and thoughts would surely change. We would become different people.
Always wanting more, we don't have time for what truly matters in this life. I would change all of that, to experience and enjoy the walks I never took, the hugs I never gave, the kisses to my children and loved ones, the jokes I didn't have time for. Surely, these would be the most beautiful moments to look back on, as they would have filled my life with joy.
Yet, some of us waste every day with greed, selfishness, and intolerance.
Every moment of life is invaluable and will never repeat itself, so take the time to enjoy it, be grateful, and celebrate your existence.
