Elite Cup

Elite Cup The Hungarian and Slovak Ice Hockey Federations in cooperation brought to life in 2017 the Visegrad Cup, which started competition in August of that year.

Our goal for the cup was to go in a new direction where the level of competition would be high and that the teams from both countries could take a step forward and to help each other to become better. This will be the third season of the competition. In the first season the Hungarian club DVTK Jegesmedvék made it to the finals with MAC Budapest playing in the semi-finals. The two teams thus earned a

spot to play in the Slovak Extraliga the following season. In the second year of the Visegrad Cup new Hungarian teams had a chance to enter the competition, two of whom will be back for the third year as well. Aſter two years the hard work and energy that has been spent on this cup series is paying off as a noteworthy international cup series will be entering its third season, teams from the Czech Republic and Poland will also be competing for the trophy. For the 2019-2020 season the two most well known clubs will be representing the ERSTE Liga, UTE and winning their first league title in 22 years, Ferencváros. Slovakia it will be HK Nitra who made it to the finals the previous year and HC Detva, with HC Torax Poruba coming from the Czech Republic. Poland will be sending their top three teams from last season in Jastrzębie, Nowy Targ and Katowice. THE FIELD FOR THE 3RD VISEGRAD CUP

GROUP STAGE WILL BE PLAYED IN AUGUST OF 2019: - the 8 teams will be split into two four team groups - the groups stage will have each team play the other three teams in the group once

PLAYOFFS:
- Quarterfinals: October 2019
- Semifinals: November 2019
- Finals: January 2020
