Nice performances today at the VEDAC season-opening meeting in Veszprém!

Gábor Czeller delivered an outstanding performance, breaking his personal best in the hammer throw after three years and securing second place with a mark of 74.48m.

Lorena Petrović also achieved a new personal best in the women's hammer throw, finishing fifth with a distance of 58.28m.

Hannah Laddinig claimed victory in the women’s discus throw with a season’s best of 49.00m, while Frida Arapović placed second with her own season’s best throw of 44.76m.

A strong opening to the season in Velika Gorica!

Our para-athletes delivered an impressive start to the year.

Ivan Katanusic secured victory in his category at the Velika Gorica para athletics meeting with a discus throw of 55.01 m, while Erik Fabian Kaurin also claimed first place with an solid 15.00 m performance in the shot put.

Three victories and two second places on the second day of the Croatian Winter Throwing Championships!

Matija Gregurić started the season with a promising throw and won the hammer throw with 74.73 m.

Hrvoje Šaravanja won the silver medal in the same event with a throw of 54.74 m.

Vinko Bučanac won the U18 hammer throw competition with a huge personal best of 60.63 m. In discus throw he also achieved a personal best and finished second with 46.11 m.

In the women’s shot put, Marija Tolj collected her second championship title with a throw of 14.92 m.

My para-athletes also performed very well. Ivan Ivan Katanusic finished fourth in the men’s discus throw with 44.33 m, while Erik Fabian Kaurin placed sixth with a throw of 41.84 m.

Two gold medals on the first day of the Croatian Winter Throwing Championships!

Marija Tolj won the women’s discus throw with a distance of 58.56 m.

Lorena Petrović triumphed in the women’s hammer throw with a mark of 57.16 m.

Both athletes competed today while being ill. Marija had an ear infection, and Lorena was suffering from sinusitis.

Congratulations on the victory, ladies, and I wish you a speedy recovery!

Ivan Katanusic is the World Champion!

At the Indian Oil World Paraathletics Championships Ivan with his seasons best throw 55,12m won his first World's title!
This is his fourth World Championships medals after bronz in London 2017, Dubai 2019 and silver in Kobe 2024.

A final decision has been made regarding the contentious throw that led Matija to the World Championship final. Since the circle's perimeter was improperly placed during Group A of the qualifying rounds, and it was raised during Matija's attempt, the validity of the throw was in question. Until now, World Athletics has not established regulations on how the perimeter should be positioned within the circle. Consequently, due to the circumstances we experienced, these rules will be amended in the future. Essentially, the LOC made an error.

As compensation, Matija has received an invitation to the World Athletics Ultimate Championship to be held in 2026.

Of course, this does not compensate for participating in a World Championship final. Perhaps the only consolation from this decision is that it has been proven Matija' rightly deserved his place in the World Championship final.

I believe that every coach's nightmare is when their athlete misses their first World Championships final due to a flawed judging decision.

In the qualifying round for the men's hammer throw at the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 2025, Matija Gregurić achieved a result of 76.38 meters with his third attempt, which was deemed valid by the judges present on the field. Just a few minutes later, however, the throw was invalidated, as the judge in the video room declared the attempt to be invalid.

It is also worth noting that the ring insert was incorrectly placed in the qualifying Group A, an issue that was presumably rectified in Group B as a result of our protest.

Based on the video, everyone should decide for themselves whether the throw was valid.

In my eyes, Matija is a World Championship finalist, and I am proud of him!
I hope that in the future, he will reclaim this deprived result with interest!
