SHE SKIPPER β
While the world somehow drifts back toward old stereotypes, S4Y keeps pushing in the opposite direction by bringing more women into an industry still heavily dominated by men. Boats, yachts, anchors, diesel engines and open seas have long been seen as a βmanβs worldβ, but reality at sea is slowly changing.
Every season, more and more women are becoming part of our team and joining skipper training programs. And not just for the experience or a summer adventure, but to seriously step into the industry and take responsibility on board.
Right now, out of five boats on international deliveries, three are led by female skippers. They are crossing seas and oceans, navigating along the Spanish coast, handling rough conditions, night shifts, long passages, charter preparations and everything else the job brings.
This year, 30% of the students at our Skipper Academy were women. π
βSkipperβ may still sound like a traditionally male title to some people, but the sea really does not care about stereotypes. It cares about knowledge, responsibility, calm decisions and confidence under pressure. And we are happy to see more and more women proving exactly that out at sea every season. β΅βοΈπ
