The ITF Young Seniors, Seniors and Super-Seniors World Individual Championships are the most coveted individual events on the ITF Seniors Circuit. Since the tournament's inception in 1981, the number of competitors has continued to increase year on year. There were originally just four age categories, but that number has now increased to 21 with more than 1,000 players competing in both singles an

d doubles. The Seniors and Super-Seniors World Individual Championships, which normally take place at separate venues and dates, are held annually all over the world in a different country each year. South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, USA and various venues around Europe and South America have all taken their turn to host the tournament. The individual events normally follow the team events by one week at the same venue, so after representing their nation many players stay on to compete for individual honours.
