I had a job interview once, and at some point they asked what I like to do in my free time.
“Sport,” I said immediately.
Then I added: “But not team sports.”
And only afterwards I thought… hmm, that probably needed some explanation 😄
Because the job itself is very team-oriented.
And so is my current one.
I work as a clinical research coordinator at a busy trial site, and my days are FULL of interaction—patients, doctors, study teams, monitors, sponsors… constant communication, coordination, problem-solving.
I actually enjoy it. But it also takes a lot of energy.
So when I think about my free time, I don’t feel like adding more “teamwork” to it.
What I really look forward to is something much simpler:
Going for long walks, usually with my dogs. Being outside. Moving, but without any pressure or expectations.
It’s my way to reset.
I think we often forget that recovery is not just physical. It’s also mental and social. And sometimes the best thing we can do is choose activities that give us what we’re not getting during the day.
For me, that’s quiet, movement, and nature (plus a couple of happy dogs 🐶).
Curious—what does your version of “recharging” look like?
