Adriatic Nautical Academy 40 years, Adriatic Nautical Academy has set the benchmark for sailing education in Croatia. A legacy of heritage, authority, and uncompromising standards.

Founded in 1988, ANA was Croatia’s first sailing Academy and first RYA Training Centre, 2008. ANA was founded in 1988 as a flagship sailing school of the network of ACI marinas in Croatia by Veljko Barbieri and Cino Ricci. Since then thousands of students have started sailing with us - many have returned, some even more than 30 times (!) to continue sailing in good company and keep discovering bea

uties of the Croatian coast. In the '90s the school owned a maxi yacht and participated in the epic Columbus regatta across the Atlantic, skippered by Damir Milos (instructor of the skipper course) and crewed by Zivko Matutinovic. (current Chief Instructor), who then took part in the Whitbread Round the World Yacht Race (today know as the Volvo Ocean Race). Today, we have at our disposal a fleet of five boats (Beneteau First 367, Elan 333 and Adria 1020) on which we carry out most of our courses. For longer cruises such as crossings to Otranto or to Malta we use a Salona 45. In our courses we aim to transmit not only sailing techniques, but also respect for each other and for the wonderful marine environment that surrounds us.

Last Week We Opened the Season at Full Power ✨️⛵️👋

Last week, we kicked off the new season in the best possible way. With 5 boats out on the water, our Competent Crew, Day Skipper, Beginner and Advanced Sailing Course, and Skipper Training programs all started strong.

Conditions were demanding, with heavy weather and strong bura blowing through almost the entire week, but that only made the experience more valuable. It was a real reminder that some of the best learning happens when the sea gives you something real to work with.

Despite the challenging conditions, the atmosphere was fantastic. Crews gained hands-on experience, built confidence, improved their boat handling, and learned how to work together under pressure.

It was an intense, rewarding, and memorable start to the season. Everyone learned a lot, pushed their limits, and still managed to have a great time on the water.

A very strong beginning — and a great sign of what this season has in store.
