Every foot pocket brand features a unique slot geometry and connector dimensions. That’s why we design a specific connection profile for every single model—ensuring a perfect fit and preventing premature carbon blade breakage caused by stress concentrations.

A lot of mass-market manufacturers ignore this critical detail. Recently, a client came to us after their carbon blades from a well-known European brand snapped after just 90 dives—despite owning them for 3 years (which usually suggests hundreds of days in the water). Preparation for mounting Pathos foot pockets (size 42/44) onto BlackTech Normal S&F Medium blades.

Tendons trimmed, bonding surfaces sanded and degreased, logos and graphics masked for protection—glue time is next.

There’s plenty of white powder on the foot pockets—Pathos never skimps on it (no matter how much you wipe it off, it keeps resurfacing and smudging everything it touches). Cleaning the workspace and clothes after assembly is definitely guaranteed.

When gluing, we prefer doing short sections of a few centimeters at a time, holding the bond tight by hand. We believe this creates a much stronger, longer-lasting bond than using masking tape or rubber bands. It takes longer, but it’s worth it.

Since we ship our fins worldwide, we have to be 100% sure we’re using the most reliable method possible.
