All Turquoise Bay Resort guests and Roatan Dive Academy students have the opportunity to make a difference by participating in coral restoration during their stay.

A unique aspect of our divemaster internship is our student’s involvement in coral restoration. During their program, students have the opportunity to apply antibiotic treatment to diseased corals, assist in the construction and maintenance of coral nurseries, outplant nursery-raised corals onto local reefs and much more.

Lionfish are an invasive species that threaten native fish populations in the Caribbean, and thus threaten the health of the reef. So what do we do? We remove them!

Our students have the opportunity to acquire a license through the Roatan Marine Park to spear these fish and enroll in the PADI distinctive speciality “Caribbean Invasive Lionfish Control”.
